One of my favorite things about God is how intentional he is. As he is scripting the story of the universe by coordinating a meaningful plan for every piece of life, he does it so beautifully. Our God doesn’t do something my accident, because he feels like it, or just because. Everything has a well thought out plan that is woven into decades of story that we cannot understand. I don’t think we take enough time to appreciate his creativeness and personality that shines through his creation.
There are 40 days until launch. $3,790 need to be raised. Plane tickets need to be bought. $60k in revenue needs to be produced. Hearts need to be prepared. Memories with friends still need to be made. And much, much, more…
40 days. There is a lot God can do in 40 days- and there is a lot that he has done in this time frame. While he creates many unique and individualized plans for our lives, he also is a God of constancy and creates patterns of reassurance. The number 40 might be one of those patterns of assurance. I am convinced that if you talk to God and create a covenant to make yourself better, to re-align your heart, to overcome the impossible- he WILL show up. How do I know this? He has done it before.

Destory the whole Earth (Genesis 7:12)
Give Moses the ten holy commandment (24:18)
Bring David to slay a Giant (Judges 13:1)
Give Jesus strength to endure a period of temptation (Matthew 4:2)
… all in 40 days, what else can he do in that time frame?
He can overcome illness and mental disease
He can provide funds
He can save lonely and weary hearts
He can break addictions
He can radically alter lives
Want to find out? Maybe we should ask him. When we are out of options, utterly confused, and ready to give up, that is where God shines. Maybe we should seek him and his loving strength in a way that we haven’t before for just 40 days and see what happens.
