Expectations are things that you strongly believe will happen. We go to church and expect God to move powerfully and restore our strength. We go to work and we expect to get paid for all the hours we put in. God has placed me on this road for a reason. So what do I expect?
1. Relationships
One of the things that I’m looking forward to is to growing a stronger sense and desire for community. I love being with people and having relationships, but I tend to build walls and defenses that can sometimes limit them. I also expect to grow in my relationship with God to the point where I just can’t get enough of him.
2. Comfort
I expect my comfort level to be challenged. Not just physically, but emotionally as well.
3. God’s voice
I expect to hear God’s voice and be able to distinguish it from my own voice better. There are so many times I doubt if it’s God’s voice, but when I do what he’s asking of me, I get confirmation that it was his voice.
4. Trust God
When I have to depend fully on God, I can lose some of that trust that I have in Him. For example, I have to depend fully on him when it comes to fundraising this trip and while I know that He owns it all and this is all part of his plan, it can be hard to fully trust him.
5. Abilities, Talents, and Gifts
I expect my abilities, talents, and gifts to be further developed and uncovered. I know there are a couple hidden ones I don’t know about.
Here’s the catch. I can’t have expectations without anticipating challenges, roadblocks and a lot of work to be put in to fulfill them. It’s as if I’m in a race and I’m sitting down and staring at the finish line to get there. It doesn’t work like that. Not only do I have to run to get there, but I have to get trained even before the race.
Expectations are made to be met.

Expectativas son cosas que creemos que creemos que va a pasar. Vamos a la iglesia esperando que Dios se mueva fuertemente y nos de fuerza. Vamos a trabajar esperando que nos paguen por las horas que trabajamos. Dios me a puesto en este camino por una razón. Entonces cuáles son mis expectativas?
1. Relaciones
Una de las cosas que espero con mucha anticipación es que el sentir y deseo por estar en una comunidad crezca. Me gusta estar con personas y tener relaciones, pero hay veces que construyo murallas y defensas que limitan esas relaciones. También espero que mi relación con Dios crezca de tal manera que estar con es lo único que deseo.
2. Comodidad
Espero que mi comodidad sea retada durante todo este tiempo. No solo mi comodidad física, sino emocional también.
3. La voz de Dios
Espero escuchar la voz de Dios y poder distinguirla de la mía. Tantas veces he dudado si es la voz de Dios, pero cuando hago lo que Él me pide, Él lo confirma.
4. Confiar en Dios
Cuando tengo que depender completamente en Dios, pierdo un poco de esa confianza en Dios. Por ejemplo, tengo que depender completamente en Dios al recaudar los fondos para este viaje misionero. Aunque yo se que Él es el dueño de todo y Él proveé, pero hay veces que es difícil poner toda mi confianza en Él.
5. Habilidades, Talentos, y Regalos
Espero que mis habilidades, talentos, y regalos sean desarrollados y descubiertos.
La cosa es que no podemos tener expectativas sin anticipar desafíos, obstáculos, y poner mucho trabajo en cumplir las expectativas. Es como yo estar en una carrera y estoy sentada mirando hacia la meta esperando llegar allá. No funciona así. No solo tengo que correr hacia la meta sino que tengo que ser entrenada.
Las expectativas son hechas para ser cumplidas.
