Today was a long day and yet the Lord said I wasn’t done just yet. Therefore, tonight it is “short and sweet!” Below is a quick recap of what has happened within the last month, what I am up to and what is up and coming! I am so excited to show you what I am working on! Don’t forget to subscribe. <3
Recap on my last few fundraisers:
My first yard sale on 02/07/2018 was not what I was planning for. I woke up at 5am, prepared for it weeks in advance, lots of donations were given to be by very generous donors and I set up that morning. The one thing that went wrong was what I could not control, the weather. It was 54 degrees that morning, mind you the day before and the day after it was in the high 80’s. In the small Texas town of New Braunfels, not very many dare go out in that weather. We’re in Texas, that’s freezing temperatures here! However, I insisted and my sister Beverly stuck it out with me the entire time! She baked cupcakes and cookies, my boyfriend’s mom donated the coffee and we stood out on my uncle’s lawn for about four hours. About 6-8 people later and a couple of sweet kids, I made $100!
I must admit that about 60% of those donations were DONATIONS and the neighbors bought nothing! Long story short, I am having another yard sale May 19th at my parents house and hopefully this time the Texas weather decides to stay warm!
Snacks at work:
Down here Frito pies, pickles and corn in a cup are a must have during, well… all year round! So of course, I set up to buy Fritos, cheese, pickles , corn and all the “fixins”. My very lovely co-workers helped me set up a table in the middle of our hallway, Mrs. Tamara made her home made chili and helped me sell snack all day long last Wednesday. I made close to $200 in donations that day! The best part about doing this at work is that God came through multiple times that day. First, I was able to reach out to multiple people and tell them what our journey is all about! I was able to tell half of our transplant team that I am to set off on a mission trip around the world and that they are key in sending me out onto the mission field. I cannot tell you how many coworkers came up to me and said, “I love what you’re doing, I’m so glad I am able to help.” Those words resonate with me every day. I also received words of encouragement, encouragement that God has used to humble me even more!
Barbra:
I think of Barbra as a door that opens right next to Gods “office”. She is a friend who has poured into me in a way that no other person ever has. She is a mentor, a role model, and a Godsend. Barbra is one of those people that God made tall, blonde and loud. He designed her that way so that we could not miss Him! Barbra worked for years in oncology, has taught nutrition at a local college and is now our senior dietician. She is a mother, a sister and an amazing friend. After her very generous donation I painted her a thank you note. She cried. She wants to frame it. That’s the type of person she is. She is humble and kind. God brought me next to her because He knew that with her by my side I could no longer stay away from Him. Thank you again Barbra.
