What ministry looks like for Team Grafted right now:
Day in the Life:
8am breakfast (Provided by Overflow)
9-11am deep cleaning
11-noon devotionals
Noon lunch (Provided by Overflow)
1-3pm evangelism training / deep cleaning (Once we finished our training)
3-5pm evangelizing in Siem Reap
6pm dinner (In town)
7pm team time
We have this huge blessing from God to be staying in the exact same location as we did for Debrief – Overflow Guesthouse (insta – overflowguesthouse) (Facebook – Overflow Guesthouse).
It’s hard to believe from my perspective as I sweat through my clothes everyday but this is the rainy season in Cambodia right now. So, the guesthouse is closed. Our team of 8 + Luis (our squad leader who is with us every other 2 weeks) are the only people who stay here. The guesthouse re-opens on November 1st and it has been our pleasure to clean the whole place before it opens.
It has been an absolute joy cleaning with my teammates. We blast great music, have great conversations & endure many great laughs together. It’s been so bonding and I am so thankful to my God for this precious time with my team.
We’ve been given a lot of freedom from Romany, Emily and Kelsey (long-term missionaries) who live here & something I’ve had so much fun cleaning is the smoothie bar. Me, my teammate Jaynna, and Luis have scrubbed, sanded, & painted to get that area lookin’ good.
We’ve also clean the whole pool. There was blood, sweat & tears but we have had so much fun and satisfaction from that pool.
We’re almost done and then our reward is the access to USE IT!!!! We’re pretty hyped.
(UPDATE: The pool finished on Halloween which allowed us to host a pool party!! So far, loving Holidays abroad and our pool!).
My teammate, Gracie, made a vlog about the pool! Click and watch it!!
The reason behind the name of this video is, whatever we may be doing, doing for God and treating everything as miraculous as miracles.
Afternoons:
We had this incredible opportunity to be taught how to evangelize from one of the long-term missionaries who lives here, Emily. She has so much passion and natural talent for this and it has been an honor to learn from her. It has also pushed and stretched all of us miles outside of our comfort zones as we tell strangers about Jesus.
We were the first group to go out everyday while being trained. The schedule was we would go through a page of the packet we were given and then sent out to evangelize with whatever we had just learned. The first day was so intimidating because we basically went out with only the prior knowledge we had. By the end of the week it was natural to evangelize and I have made some great friends because of it. God did awesome things, to the point where they deserve their own blog. 🙂
Present Day:
So, it is November 2nd which means the guesthouse is officially open! Our days look different and it’s not so fast paced. Which I think is a blessing and a burden because it can be very easy for me to just “go through the motions” when there isn’t a lot to do but we’re all very exhausted from these past two weeks of non-stop ministry.
Our main ministry this month is helping out at Overflow with the paid staff. We will be taking shifts all day, everyday at the reception desk because the two ladies who work the reception can’t leave the desk when guests are checked in, an English speaker for guests, a runner to get anything fro guests, and a friend to our amazing khmer receptionists.
Then, four of my teammates, Gracie, Kae, Kirsten and Elena will be teaching English to the staff at Overflow. They only have two classes every week for about an hour.
We really don’t have a lot going on but one thing I’ve learned on this trip is, we are always on the mission field, trying to bring Kingdom in every aspect of our lives.
We have a lot of freedom in what these next 2-4 weeks will look like. For right now, our team leader, Rachel is giving us a space for rest and adjustment. We are all very exhausted and we don’t have any guests yet. These next couple of days will be a run-through of what our duties at overflow will look like when actual guests will be here.
We want to meet in a couple of days and do listening prayer activities to see where God is leading us for all the other hours that we will not be doing “mandatory” ministry because technically a team member will always be at the reception desk but that leaves seven other people to be doing something else.
As of right now, God has really put on my heart to really pour into Club Jesus and to invest in the relationships we make with the people we are evangelizing too on the streets. But for right now we haven’t discussed it.
Today, was amazing. Learning how to rest in the Lord has been such a great life skill because it restores my energy on a whole new level, a Jesus level! Even though I wasn’t in my bible all day today, God was still with me, watching a movie, resting on my bed, playing in the pool, and typing this, I actively involve God in whatever I’m doing and it is restful. I allow him to call the shots because let’s be honest, God knows us better than we know ourselves.
I love this peaceful place. Thank you God for all the opportunities of growth you’ve given us here, it has been amazing.
FUNDRAISER UPDATE:
I am doing a fundraiser called ADOPT A MONTH.
What it is?
Every month I need on the field expenses of about $100-$150 and that adds up over 9 months. It covers anything you could think of… restocking on toiletries, off-days (where we have to pay for all of our meals on our own), new clothes, restocking on medication, any travel day expenses, gifts for ministry hosts, if anything gets lost electronically… etc.
All leftover money will be put towards funding me.
How can you help?
If you would like to adopt a month and pay any amount between $100-$150 or more that would be AMAZING! I realize that much can be a lot for one person to cover, so, multiple people, or whole families can team up and pay for it together!
The months you can choose from:
SEPTEMBER (TAKEN!!! YAYAYA!!!!!)
OCTOBER (TAKEN!!!!! WAAHOOOOOO)
NOVEMBER (NEEDED!!)
DECEMBER
JANUARY
FEBRUARY
MARCH
APRIL
MAY
JUNE (may or may not be needed, depends what day I get home)
———————————————————————————————————————
If you would like to adopt a month please email me and I can tell you what months are available and we can choose together what payment option works best. THANK YOU!
Ways YOU can Join me on my Journey:
1. Pray. I will need a multitude of prayers ranging from strength, wisdom, clarity, love, joy… The list goes on. Whatever your heart desires and feels right, pray.
2. Donating through this blog!!! When you donate through here it goes directly to World Race and my fund of 15,800 dollars.
UPDATE: I’M ONLY $1,600 AWAY FROM MY $15,800!!!!! (please donate directly to me after I meet my world race goal online because I will lose the money to cover my personal/equipment expenses! So once my goal is met with World Race anything donated to World Race for me will go into a general fund to support other racers.)
3. Cash, Check, or Venmo. Donating to me personally is still much needed because I have to buy all my gear, supplies, vaccines, airfare and I will need money on the field. (1. Venmo: Marguerite-SanMartino, 2. check: Marguerite San Martino and send to: 18101 194th Ave NE, Woodinville, Wa 98077, OR to Bear Creek Community Church with a note for me, 3. Cash to give to my parents.)
4. SPREAD THE WORD!! Tell everyone about my trip and show them my blog.
5. SUBSCRIBE! When you subscribe you will get all notifications when I post on my blog about my trip and any updates!
