IT’S MONTH ELEVEN WHOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAA
I’ve got a lot of catching up to do in the blogosphere, so I’m going to try to keep these short and sweet! I’m so excited to be able to tell you about it in person real soon ๐
WHO:
C3 Community North Kuta, an offshoot of C3 church based in Sydney Australia, run by an Indonesian couple, Wita and Carol.
This month as an SQL I’m with team 4 Count (they really like chicken nuggets) ๐
WHAT:
“Treasure hunting” (evangelism) week one. We went to the hospital, the mall, the beach, movie theater, and a small village sharing the gospel and praying for folks and connecting them to C3 Community.
Teaching English week two. Side note: If English is your native tongue, you are blessed. It is hard and confusing and there are exceptions for every rule. We’re hoping to have more students than teachers by the end of the week!
???? week 3. Probably a mix of treasure hunting and teaching.
Final Debrief week 4. We’ll look back and look ahead and then we’ll be on our way HOME.
WHEN:
We arrived May 25th, and will arrive stateside June 22!
WHERE:
Bali, baby! We’re in a city called Denpasar. I definitely never knew Bali was big enough to have multiple cities in it (although they all kind of blend together). I also definitely never thought I would go to Bali, let alone on the World Race. Whaaaa?????
WHY:
Known for yoga, beautiful beaches, dazzling days and neon nights, Bali is spiritually dark – demonic, even. Idol worship, animal sacrifice, and false enlightenment are all very present here, in addition to the party-hardy, if-it-feels-good-do-it culture. We are here to Live Out Loud In search of People Of Peace (what our host calls LOLliPOP) to see Kingdom come and souls brought out of the darkness and into the marvelous light of Jesus Christ. We would love to see communities of believers crop up in every village and neighborhood in Bali – the Church Planting eXperience (what our host calls CPX). Our focus is local Balinese, but we don’t exclude tourists from the good news either (although they’re pretty busy with the whole Bali vacation thing usually).
I’ll get a full week and a half of debrief – the first few days debriefing my squad-leading experience with my fellow squad leaders, and the last part debriefing my World Race experience with the whole squad. It is so important to end well, to bring closure and celebration, to look back and process and grieve and dream about what the next season holds. In fact, one of the things I’ll take home from the race is debriefing seasons in my life, what went well, what didn’t go well, why and what’s next. Debrief is so SO important because as my dear friend Lizard Breath says: Ya gotta debrief or it didn’t happen. ๐
FUN NUGS:
-
Teaching English to children in a small village
-
Trying Kopi Luwak AKA catpuccino AKA cat poop coffee
-
A church snorkeling trip
-
Getting to be with the last two people on the squad that I had yet to be on a team with
-
An adventure to a sunrise hike and hotspring with our hosts
-
hoping to attend a yoga class *fingers crossed*
I hope this gives you a better understanding of what June looks like for me! Thank you always for your support through prayer, and through blog comments and emails. It (literally) means the world to me! I will see you so soon and hope to be able to tell you about the Race in person in only a few short weeks!
