Children of Nsoko,
I pray that Abba would protect your eyes, ears, and hearts.
My heart longs for years where you can actually be children.
Years where the realities of HIV and AIDS don’t haunt your families.
I pray that the innocence of teenage girls would be fought for and protected.
I pray that cultural practices like child sacrifice that run deep in your country’s blood would end.
That your lives would be seen as precious and beautiful-not as a burden.
That you would find healing from the copious amounts of loss you’ve had to endure.
That your hearts would receive the love that Jesus wants you to know.
That you wouldn’t know truths about Abba to be empty phrases, but words that paint life and joy over the walls of your souls.
That your bellies would be full.
I pray determination and perseverance over each of you.
That you would be allowed to dream big dreams-and achieve them.
That you would continue to find strength in your hardship.
That you wouldn’t let poverty define you.
You are so much more than the circumstances that surround you.
Your hearts are beautiful and selfless.
You are the heart of this country.
You’ll make it beat for years to come.
