LUMELA!!! That’s “hello” is Sesotho 🙂 and basically the only thing I know. Languages are definitely not my forte. This past week has been incredible once again! We are exactly a week away from leaving this place and I don’t feel that comfy about it. It’s been SO nice to be around these people and be involved with the ministries here.
Africa has quickly become my favorite. Life here is genuine and easy. We eat a lot of carbs and take ice cold bucket showers when the water runs out. We hand wash our laundry and literally kill animals to eat the next day. Side note: I watched a sheep get slaughtered. I was literally standing in the slaughterhouse and almost got covered in blood. The entire time I was questioning who I have become, but the race does things to you. It makes you willing to watch an animal get slaughtered. But really, I wish I could take a piece of Africa back with me to the states. It’s a breath of fresh air (when they aren’t burning the trash outside). We wake up every morning and have nothing to do until 9am so we are blessed with a free morning to just be still with Jesus. It’s been a treat for my heart. Every day is different. Some days we start off with construction, gardening, or serving at the soup kitchen – other times the plans get canceled and we just hang out until we are told what to do. That’s just how the World Race rolls! At the beginning of every month we are given a schedule that is pretty detailed, but it never goes the way it’s planned. It’s okay, though! Really. I enjoy it. It’s making me not rely so much on what I write down on paper to do throughout the day. It’s teaching me that life happens and how to roll with the punches. It’s a good lesson! Especially for someone who is best friends with her planner and writes things down just to cross them off.
Something SUPER SUPER cool is we are averaging about 2 salvations a day which is INSANE. Just gosh darn beautiful and brilliant. Like I said in my last blog – we go to the local hospital and prison every week to give a message and pray over people. Every. Single. Time. we go, we leave with at least 5 salvations. Insane insane insane!! God is good.
Yesterday, we went to the hospital and a man named Joseph accepted Christ. At 60 years old he finally dedicated to give His life to Jesus and I’m not even kidding he started just beaming with joy. He couldn’t stop smiling which lead to me not being able to stop smiling. The Holy Spirit took that mans mind and heart over like a hurricane.
This coming week we are throwing a Beauty for Ashes women’s retreat for all the women in Lesotho. I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this, but my role on this race is to coordinate retreats for the local women in each country. It’s an incredible opportunity that God just placed in my lap. This retreat is all about letting these women know that their stories are worthy of being shared. That they are loved by the All Mighty God. I want to tell them He has given them their stories to glorify Him and only Him. He doesn’t want them to be ashamed. I want to encourage them to step into more of a relationship with God because there is nothing better. I’m praying that each woman walks out transformed and healed from whatever hurt and burden they have been walking around with.
So please please pray for hearts and minds to be transformed and for eyes to be opened. I’m always praying for a HUGE outcome, too. My next blog with probably be about this retreat and I can’t wait to share with you all of the things God is going to do.
ALL THE LOVE,
Mace xxxx
