The fall started with a hunger pain
A unquenchable hunger coursing through their veins
The tree of life and death causing guilt to pang
Not knowing that death followed just the same

This hunger pain was not one for a feast
The rumble was a desire to play the King
They ate and weren’t satisfied from that tree
Now prisoners, though they thought they’d be free

Where was their glory now?
Did that serpent say you’d receive a crown?
They must’ve heard that God came down
For they hid hoping not to be found

Naked and afraid
They hid their face
Overwhelmed with disgrace
Yet he called out their name

“Adam and Eve!
Why are you hiding from me?”
He knew they ate from the tree
Though they tried, he was not deceived

“Who told you you were naked?” He said
Pain filling his heart for now they were dead
Anger raging from his toes to his head
His creation in unity now separated

Despite his righteous rage
He knew the what the cost was to pay
He knelt down to which clothes were laid
And lovingly covered them to remove the shame

The first sacrifice was from God’s mighty hand
Generations after more numerous than the sand
Would take the first born animals from their land
Slaughtering the bulls, the doves, and the lambs

God is just and merciful
He wanted a relationship with his people
And seeing the void He knew how to make it null
He reached out but we were stubborn like a bull

How this must have hurt our King
To see His people without a song to sing
To love us and want to give us an eternity
But as He reached out we continued to flee

A perfect sacrifice was to be given
To bridge the gap that that we have driven
He looked to His son and said “I want to Forgive them”
So He came to live, to die, and to be risen

So Jesus came as a human baby
Learning to crawl and walk and talk daily
People stared and called Him crazy
Because He spoke without maybe’s

He spoke of heaven and of God His Father
He was a king but people saw a carpenter
He healed the blind, the deaf, and the lepor
Yet the Pharisees grew angry and saw a blasphemer

His closet friend, Judas, kissed His cheek
And told the soldiers “this is whom you seek”
30 silver coins were enough to make Him weak
Enough to betray the King of kings

To set a murder loose in the country
Before a blameless man who did nothing
They were afraid of the truth, clearly
Enough to kill a perfect man intentionally

To heap insults
To hang from the cross
To divide His cloths
This was the cost

The cost of a priceless love
From here on earth all the way above
More pure than a dove
Died instead of us

The veil was torn
Thunder roared
Left hanging adorned
With only a crown of thorns

Who am I
That He would die
That the tears He cried
Were all for you and I

But death did not have a place
He freaking rolled that stone away
He did take our place
But He rose on the third day

What love is this
That my God insists
To become less than He is
To see that we are without blemish

Creator became creation
To save every tribe and nation
Perfect love gave us perfection
What a grand suggestion

You may ask why?
I have wondered why he had to die
I had questions sky high
Like why would he give this sacrifice?

The answer is his adoration
Love so strong without expectations
His abandoned chase that saved a nation
So that heaven would be filled with his creation

He gave the first and the last
A sacrifice to redeem the past
A chance for love to fill the cracks
All of it so we will never lack

I will never lack a song to sing
Never lack a dance to bring
I will stand before my glorious king
Or honestly, I may fall to my knees

I won’t know until I see Him in His majesty
I may fall to my face at His feet
I will thank Him and I will sing
“HOLY HOLY IS MY KING”

The scars on his wrists and the scars of his back
Stand alone to prove the fact
The fact that he loved us enough that
He would die and He doesn’t take that back

This is the good news with authority
Coming around full circle to see
The old is gone, the new is to be
Thank you for this eternity

Jesus your name is light
You came and you died
I will never stop not tomorrow not tonight
Until your truth is shining bright

So the fall started with a hunger pain
A unquenchable hunger coursing through their veins
The tree of life and death causing guilt to pang
Not knowing that death followed just the same

The hunger pain
That coursed our veins
Is no longer the same
Because you came

THANK YOU JESUS!
