Philippians 2:5-8

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who being in very nature God, Did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;

rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross!”

Since being in Swaziland, the Lord has been showing me more-and-more how important it is to be a servant. Being a servant is seen so much as something that you don’t want to be in todays world and I believe that so much of the Church today has also taken this view. So much of the Church has bought into this lie that when you are the Pastor or head Worship leader at a church you are no longer a servant, but a “leader”. But here in Philippians 2 and ALL over the New Testament it tells us to be like Christ who made himself a servant for everybody, even though he was actually God himself. The Creator of the universe and the ONLY ever perfect human to live, made himself a servant to all of us. To the point of death on a cross. And we for some reason believe that there is a point where we don’t have to serve people anymore. I am praying that I can become more-and-more of a servant to everybody that I am around, because that is exactly what Jesus did. And I am praying that I can serve more-and-more with an overwhelming joy, because that is what Jesus would do. And I always need to remind myself that the only reason why I can do any of this, is because Jesus died for me and conquered death. What a blessing it is to be here in Swaziland serving a God so good!
