We made it!
Hallelujah!
Team Scelte…. Italian word for “Chosen.” April, Simona, Catherine, Alycia, and Adi.
After a flight from Atlanta, Georgia – -> Ft. Lauderdale, Florida – -> Lima, Peru. We arrived late in the evening and my team got a hostel for the evening and then boarded a bus around lunch time the next day for a 24hr bus ride (hello altitude) to our ministry site in Cusco, Peru.
Talk about a long travel day!
This month we are partnering with and serving Calvary Chapel, Cusco. Our hosts Kenneth and Letty Dujay have such a heart and vision for this city and their church. They have been here for the past 9 years pouring everything they have into missions and ministry here.
We are loving the people here already!
Only about a week into this leadership gig and it started a little rocky but I’m reminded more and more why I was strategically placed with this amazing group of ladies. You know month one, just adjusting to being in community like this and figuring each other out. Starting the hard conversations early which I’m like “LETS GO” because it’s going to make them so much stronger in the end. They all have such distinctly different personalities. Just find myself reiterating to them that my role here is to not keep this team together. That’s on them and they have to fight for it, press in, and create what they want. I will be here to walk along side them and love and support them 1,000% though. You can tend to instantly want what takes time to create as a team and based on experience I have to remind them that’s not how it works. Give grace to themselves, one another, and grace for the process! I feel confident I handled the hard situations and conversations the best way I could. I just have to remember that I might not always feel like this but in the hard times and hard conservations they are having it’s not a reflection of my leadership! Not my weight and burden to carry.
I’m growing more and more in confidence that it wasn’t just a fluke that I got approached to be an alumni team leader. Gosh, I’m already learning so much from this team and from the Lord. I can’t wait to see what these next few months with them holds as they chase and seek the Lord over this next year.
I am actually doing very very well. Spiritually and physically I’m doing good. Remembering the truth of his word and that he equips the called. Reading through the book of Daniel right now and how the Lord gave him so much favor in so many situations. He has given me favor over this past week to be reminded of the goodness and truth of his word. Thank you Lord.
If you could be praying that I would continually be aware that I’m not always going to do this thing perfectly. But as long as I’m being led by the holy spirit and do everything with love, wisdom, and discernment and that’s all the Lord is asking of me.
A peru double rainbow! God is a God of promises and he fulfills those promises! And they are always “YES” and “AMEN” ….
Love you all so very much!!
