I haven’t written a blog for a few weeks now, and I apoligize for not doing a good job at keeping y’all updated. I have been putting off writing one because I didn’t know what to write about. Since my last blog, we moved from Chiang Mai, Thailand to Penang, Malaysia. It took a total of 38 hours to get here, which consisted of 3 bus rides and a ferry ride. All of the traveling actually didn’t seem that bad and I was able to sleep a lot, so that was nice. Since being here though, I have kind of been in kind of a weird mood. It almost has felt like we are just on vacation and doing ministry on the side. I also find myself being lazy and not wanting to do ministry. My sleep schedule has been crazy too, so I feel like that might be part of the reason I feel so tired. This month’s ministry, however, since pushing into it, has been amazing. We are doing several relational ministries where we get to sit down with people and just talk about life, which is completely opposite from our ministry in Thailand, but I love it. We have also gone to a lot of temples since being here and it is crazy to see how many different religions there are on this island, even on one street. Growing up in America/Swaziland, I have really only been around two different types of people, “Christians”, and those who don’t like religion. Personally, going to temples of other religions, such as Taoism, Hinduism, Islam, and Buddhist, makes me really uncomfortable. It’s uncomfortable to see people worshiping statues, another god, or their ancestors, knowing that they are all going down the wrong path that leads to hell. Please be praying for those people and that God would totally wreck their lives and turn them around.
Also, where we are staying this month is really nice and there is lots to do around here, such as food, coffee shops, and just exploring, so it has been hard for me to stay focused on the reason I’m actually here, to serve others and show them the love of Christ. It’s also really hard to evangelize here since it is illegal to share the gospel with Muslims, so we have to be extremely careful what we are telling certain people. One of my team mates was talking to a lady who said some people she knew went missing for passing out Bibles. It’s kind of scary, but I know that God is with us. We are so blessed to be able to worship Christ freely and have access to His word.
Oh and one other thing…. I AM NOW FULLY FUNDED!!! Thank you so so so much to all of you who donated to make this possible. I wouldn’t be able to do this without y’all. Here are a few ways that you can be praying for me during this season…
-
For me to stay focused on why I’m here.
-
That I would continue to reject passivity and be intentional in my conversations and actions.
-
For good health. Many people have been getting sick on our squad.
Yours in Christ,
Landon Mullins
