Last week I went to World Race Gap Year Training Camp in Gainesville, GA, and it was HOT. It’s super hard to describe how I feel after being at Training Camp for 10 days. It was extremely mentally, physically, and emotionally challenging, but I learned so much.

Here’s the gist of what a day looked like (each day was different)… We had team devotions every morning at 7:30 am, and had to have all of our stuff packed up before then. Then we went until around 10 pm with the day’s various activities. There was a TON of information thrown at us through multiple daily sessions. We had many practical team building experiences (from carrying people up a mountain on the man-hike to 9 people standing on a towel and trying to flip it over), worship, and team processing time. A few nights we even had scenarios where we had to partner up and live off of one person’s stuff for a night, sleep in community tents, or sleep in an airport layover scenario (a room designed like an airport w/ chairs and airport noises playing all night). All of this was super helpful in preparing us for what could actually happen on the field.

Many people so far have asked the questions “What was your favorite part about training camp?” and “What was the biggest lesson you learned?”, so here are my answers:

Favorite part? Worship or team building. I loved worship. I have never experienced anything like it before. I could feel the Holy Spirit moving and there was so much passion! Team building was also really impactful. We didn’t just sit around and play games, but we processed how they affected us and how we can improve. It also helped to build strong relationships in our team and squad.

Oh yeah.. Who’s my Squad? Who’s my team?

This is my Squad. (A.K.A my tribe) There are 39 of us, not including leaders.

This is my team. There are 7 of us plus our awesome team leader.

Ok, now for the second question. What was the biggest lesson?

I think the biggest lesson for me was probably that we have to stick together as a team, communicate constantly, and always have grace. Well, maybe that was three things, but whatever. I am still working on processing everything that we went over at camp, but God definitely worked in awesome ways. With all of this being said, I am on fire and ready to go!

If you would like to learn more about my journey or hear more about what God did at training camp, please email me at [email protected] or message me at (205) 728-9875. I would love to meet up and chat with you! Also, I am still about $3,600 from being fully funded, so please pray about helping me reach my goal before I launch on September 8th! Any amount is appreciated and you can even donate monthly through January 15th!

Yours in Christ,

Landon Mullins
