Since before I began the race many people asked me what I was going to do after these 11 months? As most of you already know, I had no idea! I came on the race with an open mind that God could lead me anywhere and it really excited me to know my future was open to endless possibilities. I wasn’t sure how or when I would know what was coming after the race but as of last month my next steps have been confirmed!
The race has truly changed my life! I already know I’m not the same person that boarded that first plane out of America last October and there’s still 5ish months to go! For the past 2 months I have been walking in the position of a Raised Up Squad Leader along with 2 other squad mates. This is a role of discipleship and shepherding of the squad. When I started the race I didn’t even know this role existed! And when I was asked to fill this role back in Vietnam I was in shock.
As I look back along my journey I can see that this was what God was preparing me for and leading me towards. A year ago I would not have believed that I would be asked to fill this role much less be equipped to handle it. And with what I have coming after the race, many days I can’t help but feel like I do not have the skillset to take on that upcoming role. But something I heard in a podcast this week really excited me-
“God designs your future not based on present you. He designs it based on future you.”
He knows what we are capable of and the growth we have the potential for before we do. I’m so thankful God continues to stretch, prune and mold me throughout this journey! I know I still have so much more to grow in and that honestly will never stop no matter how old I am. But all this to say I know my plans for the near future after the race and here it is…
I WILL BE SQUAD LEADING WORLD RACE GAP YEAR.
Most of you might be wondering what all these words even mean? Wellllllllll, let me tell you in the most basic way I know how…
I am currently on World Race 11n11 – where ages 22-35 travel to 11 countries in 11 months.
World Race Gap Year – is ages 18-21 who travel to 3 countries in 9 months.
Obviously I am out of the Gap Year age range. BUT through a process of prayer, prayer, and more prayer along with the application and interview process I have been chosen to squad lead this group of college aged students. I will stay with the group all 9 months and help shepherd them along with the other squad leaders for this route.
Speaking of…my new route will be Guatemala, Ethiopia and Thailand!
I am seriously so stoked to have this opportunity to love on students and help them learn from the mistakes I’ve made and walk alongside them to build a strong foundation in the Lord as they enter/continue into adulthood. I would love to talk more about this with anyone- about what I will be doing and how I ended up doing this!
The hardest part about taking this position is that I will be in America no more than two weeks from when I land back in America to when this next squad will launch. I am sad not to get more time with friends and family back home, but as much as I want to be home, I strongly believe this is where God is calling me next! It will be a quick turn around and another 9 months from home but I am pumped to feel like I am walking in the purpose God has called me to during this time of my life!
Wow, He is such a redeemer! Two years ago I felt like my life was over but the Lord took that mess I made and has turned it into a chance to serve and love others I otherwise never would have been given the chance to!
I have greatly appreciated the support I have received since day one! From the moment I started talking about going on the World Race in 2017 I have been so encouraged! You all showered me with prayers and encouraging words and helped financially support me so I could begin this 11 month journey being fully funded! I can’t say thank you enough!
With squad leading this is also something I will be fundraising for. It is $3800 for the 9 months, plus the flights back home and to training camp and launch. I firmly believe the funds will come in because this is where God is leading me.
Any financial support would be giving me the opportunity to minister to and disciple nearly 50 students and share the love of God with them along with the ministries in the 3 countries we will be traveling to. My fundraising bar has reset on my blog page where you can donate, or I also have Venmo– knbroome and PayPal– PayPal.me/KyndalBroome.
And as I continue this race and prepare for the next I could use support in prayers as well. Here are a couple things I could use prayer for:
-to be present and make the most of the next 5 months.
-prayer for my mom as she prepares to visit me in Romania!
-over all of P Squad to have the strength and energy to finish the second half of the race strong!
-for the Lord to begin preparing the hearts of the students going on gap year.
Thank you!
Kyn
