A couple of weeks ago I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Ireland with my grandma for a week. We packed in as much as we could into those 7 days and boy did we cover a lot of ground! I absolutely loved it and I have to say I was very impressed with my Mimi for keeping up with all the walking we did!
We went on several day tours into the countryside. My favorite part of the entire trip was the Cliffs of Moher. Mimi might disagree with that because it was so rainy and windy that we had trouble trying to walk straight. For those who don’t know, the Cliffs of Moher are these massive cliffs along the coast of Ireland that meet the Atlantic Ocean. I could have stood there forever in awe! God is truly amazing!
Throughout the trip the song that continued to play in my mind was Reckless Love by Cory Asbury- if you haven’t heard it you’ve got to check it out! A quote I love is, “Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God. Oh, it chases me down, fights ‘til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine. I couldn’t earn it, I don’t deserve it, still you give yourself away.” The song refers to the parable of the lost sheep (Luke 15:1-7) and we were constantly passing sheep on the rolling green hills of Ireland…so fitting!
The Lord is chasing us DAILY. He doesn’t ever give up on us, nor does he ever stop caring. He truly treasures each and every one of us. When I stood on the top of the Cliffs of Moher I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. I have felt the tug of the Lord on my heart when I strayed too far away from him. I was the 1 and he left the ninety-nine for me…He has shown such mercy and grace on my life and has forgiven me for my past (Nehemiah 9:17).
The Lord is so powerful and has created such masterful landmarks to give us a glimpse of what He is capable of. This is what is so amazing about the Lord. He is willing to leave the ninety-nine just for you! Don’t ever think you’re too far-gone or a lost cause because that is NEVER the case. You might think you are different and that nothing can help you now, but trust me, he can work miracles!
Going through a ministry last year called ReGeneration at Watermark gave me an opportunity to hear all kinds of testimonies. You wouldn’t expect crazy stories from such Godly people, but that is exactly what the Lord is capable of. He can turn messes into beautiful stories so others can come to know him. Don’t let your past define you, but use it as a tool to reach others who are struggling.
I won’t forget the emotions I felt standing on top of those cliffs. I wish I could put into words just how in awe I was and how wonderful He is but I can’t. And it’s not something you have to be standing on top of massive cliffs to figure out because his majesty is all around us! The Lord will never give up on us and getting to experience it first hand in my life has been so humbling and rewarding! Don’t spend another day letting your past define you but find new life in Christ because He is chasing after you right now!
