What exactly does adventure look like? Adventures in Missions aka AIM works hard to make certain that while we are out on the field we have and take time to rest and adventure if we choose. I’m thankful that they protect that time and so I’ve also worked hard with them in this for myself!
As I’ve been reading through the Bible this year, I was amazed at God’s rhythm during creation. He created something until evening and then rested. Then after spending six days doing this, He rested fully on the seventh day. It made me reflect on how I spend my time and what I’m doing.
Sometimes it’s easier to choose laziness, to be overwhelmed by how much there is to do, or to try to cram in too much. This all throws off the rhythm! So as I examined my actions, time, and heart, I realized God’s pattern was absolute perfection. It was like God saying, “Hey, Kim – why not work really hard during the day. Don’t press snooze on your alarm. Get up and embrace what is happening. Spend time with Me and put in the effort all day long. And then rest. And after days of doing this, take one day and totally recharge. And then repeat this again.”
As my pattern has been changing into this and I’ve developed a flexible routine, I’m noticing my time is better spent, my body and mind are healthier, and life seems simpler. God lifted the weight off of looking at the week and trying to plan out every little detail, and I love it.
So with all of this happening, we’ve relaxed and adventured. While adventure at times will look more wild, for now this was our first adventure day in Bouake. I appreciated the simplicity, the enjoyment of the culture, and the busy yet peaceful environment.
I’m praying that you begin to find rhythm with God and that you allow Him into your days, thoughts, and questions as He has really started to do with mine.
With love,
Kim
