So here’s a bit of backstory before we get into what has happened. When I was younger (around 7-8) I began getting many strange bug bites that eventually evolved into hives. They had been happening for around a month, were extremely itchy, and seemed worse at night. It was then when my parents found a strange bug in my room and decided to research it. Believe it or not Bed Bugs are a real thing. Before this entire debacle I didn’t really like bugs but AFTER… butterflies and ladybugs are the only ones tolerated.

SO… now that you know this, I got lice. Pretty bad actually. I have cried more in the past week than I have since I’ve left the United States. The first attempt at getting rid of them took over 4 hours with multiple members of my team (and a few other helpful individuals) sitting over me, picking dead lice and nits out of my freshly treated hair. Unfortunately we found out 4 days later that it was not successful. After many threats of shaving my head the first time and discovering that the lice was STILL very bad (also the same shade as my hair, lucky me) I made a decision. I had pretty short hair anyway and it grows back pretty fast. Notice I said HAD. That’s right. I SHAVED MY HEAD! And let me tell you it’s rather liberating. When it came down to it I wasn’t going to let lice ruin my mental health and take away any time that could be better spent serving and focusing on my relationship with God. So I got rid of it. And honestly not everyone gets to say they’ve been bald before.
So here’s to starting over and living Lice free! Also I got to visit the Caribbean beach this past weekend and it was beautiful. That trip alone calmed so many fears in my heart and although I didn’t really mean to sign up for the trip, it was obviously meant to be.

Finally, a quick note about fundraising. We currently are at $11,260! Only $4,540 left! I feel like it was only yesterday getting my first donation from some of our wonderful neighbors and I cannot express how incredibly grateful that everyone who has supported me so far has put their trust in me. I am getting to be the hands and feet of the church, make a difference in the lives of people who truly need to know love and am growing in my faith everyday! Thank you all!!!
