I guess in order to clearly explain what lead up to me deciding to team lead I need to go back to Month 8 of my own Race. It all started with a vision from a fellow racer. Basically, a girl from O squad told me she felt like I should look into team leading. To be honest I laughed it off at first. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to team lead, it’s just at the time I was planning on going straight to Bethany Global University once I got home from the World Race. Well, flash forward to the end of month 8 I began to feel the Lord convicting me to defer from college for a year and just stay home. Without really knowing exactly what He had planned I chose to be obedient and defer with no real idea of what was next. Well after returning home and settling in I went down to Gainesville for PSL. (A 5 day retreat for all the squads to come back together and fellowship with one another in America) Well there we had sessions about what some of our after the Race options could be. Megan one of the Squad mentors got up and started talking about team leading. Have you ever been in an audience and felt like the Lord was using the speaker to speak directly too you? Well that’s how I felt when Megan began to speak. She said, “I want everyone in here to take 10 seconds and ask the Lord if they should team lead, because I feel like there are some people in here who are going to team lead and they just don’t know it yet.” (hint one of those people was me) Well, during the 10 second pause I began to feel the Holy Spirit convicting me to team lead. At first I was like no. No. Absolutely not. Just no, Lord. There’s no way I could ever team lead.  September? That’s so soon. How would that even work? How does this fit into the plans you have for me? Well, after lots of encouragement and a little bit of peer pressure from one of my squad mates, (shout out to Cait Wade, love you my friend) I went and talked to my squad mentor Kacie about team leading. Needless to say I filled out the application, had my interview, and got accepted. I’ve been praying a lot about what the Lord has for me this year and one thing He continues to lay on my heart is discipleship. Community is important when it comes to being apart of the body of Christ. Living in community and pushing one another towards growth is a huge part of what God wants His church to be. So this year that is something the Lord told me to press into. First by solidifying my own growth by stepping into the role of Team Leading. Second by helping those around me grow through discipleship. I’m excited and expectant of all He will do this coming year. Anyway, thank you so much for reading my blog, and for following my journey!
