“…And they kissed one another and wept with one another…”

1 Samuel 20:41

So Sunday a week ago, I had the opportunity to meet a woman at one of the churches we’ve been serving at in San Pedro. She poured out her heart in tears to God at the Church. Compelled by the Spirit I moved to sit with her and just hugged and held her while she cried. After the service I had the opportunity to hear her life story. I felt so close to this woman in such an instant.

Little did I know that the next weekend when team Fiercely Lit would return to San Pedro for the weekend. She would be my home of hospitality along with 5 other squad mates. Her and her three daughters fed us breakfast and offered us warm showers in their lovely home Saturday and Sunday morning. It was such a God thing that I got to reconnect with her.

Not only did we get to share a home with them, but we were able to partner with them in ministry as we did home visits and prayed for people Friday, and then Saturday when we were able to pass out tracts and do evangelism together.

(Side note: Wesley had not been inside the Catholic Cathedral at San Pedro yet, and we walked in with one of the daughters. She was completely convinced that there was a funeral happening, and then we had a big laugh when we realized it was actually a wedding.)

But Sunday’s breakfast….

It was one of the best breakfasts I have had in Colombia, not just because of the food, but because of what took place around that table that morning. The first serving of tears for breakfast were when Alejandra broke down and didn’t want us to leave. She had accepted all of us as her children, and we had all grown a big place in our hearts for her and her family. She had felt a connection with our team unlike others before, and we fell in love with them quickly.

The second serving of tears for breakfast came with just one question. While looking through pictures, I looked at one photo and asked if it was a happy day for her. She then began crying and shared to our group so many feelings and details of her life. Then her children and all of us began weeping together over the pain that they had experienced in their lives. Through it all, though, she has clung to God. Even when she had thought God had forgotten her. She has now clung to His promises and goodness for Her. While praying for her, it then lead us into spiritual warfare over the house. We anointed the house and prayed over every room and corner of their home. It was a busy morning as we then went over to a park to do children’s ministry through skit and dancing.

Leaving Sunday night after the church service was way harder than I ever expected it to be. I should be good at goodbyes by now… but the separating between their family and us had them in tears and several of us bawling as well as we had to say goodbye. In less than 3 days, the Lord bonded us with this brave family of women in such an intimate way.

Call to Prayer: They have family members who are not Christians and are not chasing after the Lord. Many of them belong to the Catholic Church and despise the Christian faith. There is much healing that still needs to take place in the lives of these women. They serve their church so well! Help me serve them by praying for Alejandra, Isa, Paulina, and Manu.
