the past three months in costa rica have been full of learning, stretching, and just adjusting to a new lifestyle. as I look back on the past three months, I find moments that are filled with joy. you know when there are certain moments in your life that, as they are happening, you just KNOW that you’re gonna miss this. I’ve had plenty of those moments, some of them even being amidst tears. the past three months have not been easy, they have truly pushed me further out of my comfort zone than I could have imagined. I have had moments and questions and even a few doubts about my faith, if I am being completely honest. BUT I’ve learned that since I am outside of anything I have ever known, I am going to have questions. and I am going to have doubts. BUT what I am slowly figuring out is that God is always there, and He is always walking hand in hand with me. no matter what I feel, or how I feel towards Him, He is holding me close. He will be my advocate, and He isn’t rushing me into any situation that I’m not ready for. SOOO, that being said, here are some of my favorite moments from the past three months in Costa Rica.

  • bus rides to ministry!!!
  • naming the LOUD water heater in our room ‘Alan’
  • sharing the megabed, or ‘the meg’ with paigey, helen, and linds
  • getting to have one on ones with my teammates
  • playing endless games of tag with christopher
  • bonfires/worship nights with the full squad
  • getting to lay in the grass and look at the stars
  • waking up to a mountain in our backyard every morning
  • getting absolutely pummeled by waves at jaco beach
  • sitting and simply enjoying god’s creation
  • morning devo time, outside
  • laughing!!!!!
  • morning breakfast dates to our favorite café, ‘bread house’
  • conversations on the kitchen floor
  • cliff jumping off a waterfall ?!?!
  • la montana camp!!!!
  • coffee time at camp
  • getting to know the teacher’s hearts for the kids at our ministry
  • feeling so at peace, driving through the mountains as the sun was setting after a long day at the beach
  • challenging and hard conversations that have a strange kind of comfort within them (jesus)
  • xinia’s food
  • making friends with homeless men
  • playing the monster game at ministry
  • dressing up with breynin and jefferson
  • attempting to surf
  • staring in awe at sunsets on walks home
  • creating relationships !!!!
  • finding real and authentic joy within the laughs of our kids at ministry
  • getting punched by the legend himself, Samuel at ministry
  • performing jingle bells for all the kids at ministry
  • thanksgiving, with our neighbor carlos
  • raking leaves in the pouring rain at our neighborhood park
  • our fearless bus driver, alfredo, singing at the top of his lungs the whole way home
  • learning to rest in the fact that Jesus is walking next to me, through it all

These are just a few of the moments that I have enjoyed throughout the past three months. As we head into this next season in South Africa, I pray that I don’t forget these sweet moments. I pray expectantly that God is going to work as He does in Africa, just as He did here in Costa Rica.

I am still in need of about $800 before I am fully funded. I need this money by the end of January. I ask that you join me in prayer as I continue the process of fundraising. If you feel called to donate, you can do so HERE on the home page of my blog. ANY amount helps, and thank you in advance for helping me to continue on this journey.
