hellooooo everyone! I was very in need of a blog idea, until today one of my teammates, Natalie, was asking us how we have been doing as far as spiritual formation around prayer goes. This is something that I had not even thought about until Nat was asking us. BUT man, to be honest, looking at it, prayer has totally been an area of growth in the past three weeks. It blows my mind to think about.
Up to this point, I would say I haven’t experienced anything CRAZY exciting. I haven’t had moments that were completely earth s h a t t e r I n g or life altering. We have been required to just spend time being still as we wait to go to ministry until 2pm everyday. As a matter of fact, one of my new found hobbies is sitting in our backyard and watching ANTS crawl up the wall in our backyard. What a life we live. Setting aside the distractions (our phones hehe) has been a hard thing but definitely necessary. One thing I have noticed is the way that prayer can change a mindset in weeks, days, or even seconds. SO, here are 10 things I have learned about/through prayer in the past few weeks.
-
You don’t have to use big churchy words to pray, it’s literally a conversation.
-
Your prayers don’t have to be 3 hours long with 18 references to scripture, small short prayers are just as powerful.
-
Praying with intentionality holds much greater worth than praying as a chore
-
Prayer brings peace and a grateful heart.
-
A grateful heart makes doing hard things somewhat easier.
-
Prayer is not just for church or dinner, it’s for walks and bus rides and showers and anywhere.
-
Jesus hears ALL your prayers.
-
If He doesn’t answer your prayers how you want, there is a reason.
-
He always has your best interest at heart !!!!!!!!
-
Sometimes, He simply wants you to just sit and be in his presence. There is something to be said about silence.
As always, thanks for reading! All my love <3.
