The idea of a new blog these past couple of days has felt a little overwhelming because I’m just not sure how to condense everything into one post. How do I organize my thoughts when so much happens in a single day but a whole week seems to fly by?

I do want to begin by thanking each and every one of you who are reading this. On days when I feel frustrated or just really miss home or are wondering why I signed up for something as crazy as the World Race, my heart comes back to you. My family, friends and supporters are my constant source of encouragement and motivation. And the Lord, of course–none of this would even be feasible without His provision and unfailing direction. Muchas gracias, amigos!

This week has been filled with birthdays, feedback, FaceTime calls, moving dirt, teaching English, lots of prayer, tacos and chai tea, and being reunited with my friend Cinthia in Santiago. And honestly, so much more than that.

We helped throw a surprise birthday party for our ministry host, Ruben! It was even cowboy-themed. Here’s my team posing with the birthday star himself.

Our time in the DR is coming to an end here soon. Next weekend, our whole squad will be heading to Puerto Plata, DR for a few days at Debrief. And after that, we’re Haiti-bound!! I’m so incredibly excited to be in Haiti, but I’m also trying to really soak in our remaining time here. This first month has not quite been what I expected, and I think that’s good. The Lord has been showing me that ‘going with the flow’ really just means being aligned with His will and open to whatever He has next. I’m trying really hard to trust that every single detail is in His control. He’s been so good to us-I’m excited for what the next 10 months will bring.

I’ll have another blog soon reflecting on our time here in the DR, but for the meantime, here are some prayer requests:

  • for safe and efficient travel to Haiti. We’re still trying to finalize some travel details and could use some prayer in getting everything figured out!
  • for our whole squad to be in good health and spirits so that we can get the most out of Debrief.
  • for our coaches and staff who will be flying out to meet us next week!!
  • for continued rain here in Lajas de Yaroa.
  • for the health of our ministry hosts’ family.
  • for everyone on our squad to be fully funded (I only have about $3,700 left!).

If you ever have any questions about the work we’re doing or what life looks like, please reach out! And prayer requests–send em my way! I’d love to be praying for you too.

Also, I post occasionally on my Instagram: ktshredder (follow if you want to see random pics lol).

That’s it for now! I’m going to go sit in a hammock and enjoy the rest of the Sabbath. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good. Love y’all.
