“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”

-Saint Theresa of Avila

Holy moly cow.

The amount of responsibility in that quote is almost daunting. Almost. For the most part, I find it exhilarating. In our Christian circles, I feel like it can become cliché to throw around phrases like, “be the hands and feet of Jesus, y’all!” (lol) But it’s true, isn’t it? Not only does the Lord stir in our hearts, compelling us to care for people in his example and bring his Good News to the world, but he also says, “I can’t do my work without you.”

But God, you’re so mighty. You can do anything and you don’t even need us. We’re just puny lil humans who understand very little in the grand scheme of things. What can we even do??

The answer: everything.

I am going on the World Race next August because Christ has no body now on earth but mine. And it is my responsibility and my great honor to embody the Lord’s love and grace and selflessness and righteousness and carry it to 11 different countries. Does this mean I am flawless, blameless, and holier than thou??? Hahaha ABSOLUTELY FREAKING NOT. I’m about as messed up as they come. But what I do have is Jesus, and what he has is me. And our team. And you-He has you too. He has us to be his stewards, so that he can work in and through us.

So my prayer right now is to ask the Lord to prepare my heart to be open and receptive to what it is he’s asking me to do. To be flexible, excited, eager and at peace. To carry his responsibility with grace and humility.

Now let’s watch Him bless all the world.

Love y’all,

K
