Legacy of Hope is the foundation my team and I have been partnering with while our time in Honduras. Legacy of Hope provides care to abandoned and vulnerable children in Honduras through foster care, crisis care, family preservation, while equipping the community through trainings. They work diligently to provide a safe and loving family environment for every child who comes through their doors. This ongoing care is provided to the children they serve by meeting the children’s spiritual, physical, educational, emotional, and social needs in practical ways. Legacy of Hope displays God’s undeniable hope and love for vulnerable children by the care and provision they provide within their ministry homes. They do this not only through their actions, but also through their heart and attitude towards their community and the children within their care.

Without a strong advocate, vulnerable children will likely suffer from oppression, abuse, and get lost in the system. This is driving force behind what Legacy of Hope does as they work with their team of psychologists and community to help children heal from past trauma and reach their full potential. They strive to be the voice for these children by displaying Christ’s love and demonstrating best practices in orphan care.

Children, like all of humanity, bear the image of God – which is the basis of their worth and dignity. Throughout scripture, a wonderful picture of children is painted as each one being personally and intimately formed by God. Protecting children and upholding their rights is a biblical imperative. It flows out of a recognition of children’s individual worth and claims dignity, as well as, the vulnerability that comes with being orphaned. As a result, Legacy of Hope strives to provide adequate care and extend protection to vulnerable children in order to prevent long term damage and situations that will negatively affect their development.

Legacy of Hope is an incredible foundation that I am honored to walk alongside as they make a difference in this world. I encourage you to check out their website at: https://legacyofhopefoundation.org

Isaiah 1:17

“Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow.”

Sometimes we can be unaware of the power we hold, based on where we are from, who we represent, or the position of privilege afforded to us due to our nationality or our economic status. Power and privilege inadvertently create hierarchy in relationships and unintentionally silence the voice of those around us.

Thank you so much and until next time(:

Yours in Christ,

Karrie
