Hello all! Here is a snapshot of my life and who I am. Though not all encompassing, hopefully this will help you to learn a bit about me! I am a 25 year old woman living near Portland, Oregon. I am a wedding and event coordinator at an amazing golf club and I absolutely love my career and my coworkers. It is such a joy being a part of some important moments in people’s lives. It is a stressful job but, oh so rewarding!
I actually grew up and spent majority of my life in northern Indiana with my amazing parents, Jon and Jami, and my wonderful siblings. I have an older sister, Keerstin, a younger brother, Seth, and a little sister, Lexy. Though Lexy did not live with us it is still wonderful to know I have her in my life! My siblings are always there whenever I need them and continually teach me things about myself and this big world we live in. Keerstin is in the Navy and is always stationed somewhere in the world, Seth is in college back in Indiana and Lexy is in college in Oklahoma. Even though we are all spread out across the globe we find ways to connect with each other and I would be lost without them!
I have so many different interests. It is such a big world with so many things to do and learn. I am always searching for something new to do or create. I love to cook and in college took culinary classes to learn more about it. I love anything to do with the outdoors be it hiking, swimming, or just reading a great book in the park. God has given me a curious and adventurous mind and heart and I know he gave me them to go and make an impact on this world.
I have had so many people that have made an amazing impact on my life. My wonderful family always supports me in any decisions that I make and push me to find my path in life. Growing up I was also blessed to have an amazing mentor named Tracie. She really helped to guide me and show my what being a woman in Christ really meant. I could tell her anything and she always knew what to say and how to show me God’s love in everything. In the summer of 2014 I was given the opportunity to be baptized and I knew it was time to publicly show that my heart was His and the moment I rose up out of the water I felt so much joy and love it was amazing!
Though God has given me so many strengths and surrounded me with such an amazing support team, I of course have many weaknesses and struggles as well. I constantly am filled with self doubt about whether I am making the right choices. This trip is going to put my career on hold and I have worked so hard to get to where I am that it scares me to halt now. Every time I feel the doubt of putting my life on hold I just stop and remind myself that my life is not going to be on hold but, is going to be launched forward. He has a plan for me and I know that this mission is a part of it. I don’t know what doors this will open for me but, I know that he is calling me to walk through them.
I chose the World Race because I have been continually feeling the pull to missions work but, in my searching for a trip to join I kept coming across trips that were a week or two and then I kept weighing if I wanted to do the mission or use that week for vacation. When I realized what I was doing I decided that I really wanted to do a longer trip that I would have to put more time and effort into. I came across the World Race and knew that it was the path I was supposed to take. The more I learn about my route and meet my team the more I feel certain that I made the right decision.
I am just your average human but, I know I am being called to do something more than average. As I join with the rest of my amazing team in this journey I would ask that you please pray for my heart to be open to everything that He is leading me into. I am in for a long road of fundraising, preparation and spiritual searching and would greatly appreciate your prayer on all of those things! If you are called to more than prayer I of course would greatly appreciate any other support you can offer as well.
I am so looking forward to this journey He has called me to and am so glad to have so many amazing people to join with me!
