This past week my team and the guy team got the opportunity to go to Lumbo Valley Farm for a week of ministry. This farm switch an organization called One Heart Africa. This organization gives food to those who need it and teaches people how to farm all with the intention to further the Kingdom. This was one of the best weeks of the race so far. Not only did we get to farm, but we also got to spend Thanksgiving there. It was one of the most memorable Thanksgivings yet. I was completly in my element for farming. Here are some photos from the week!
These plants are part of the aquaponics section. Because the ground is so dry, some of the plants are grown in water!
We brought a few instruments to the farm, this is a few of us playing in the common room.
Week got the chance to weed and rune onions for a whole day!
We also got the chance to prune and tie up cauliflower one day.
So on the farm some of us had the chance to kill chickens for dinner. 4 chickens were killed that night.
We made raised beds!
That required cow manure for the soil, we loved that
My wonderful teammates (pictured here Bekah and Sophie. Not pictured Sarah Johnson and Sam Trout), decorated and cooked for thanksgiving. They made it so special.
This is the groom of wonderful people I got to spend thanksgiving with (team fervent and team oikenomius)
Also, football on Thanksgiving!
Overall it was one of the best weeks on the race. It was good bonding time for my team and with being on the farm, I was in my element. God is so good.
