Hola amigos!
Roughly two weeks ago we landed in Colombia. The travel could not have been smoother. All of our luggage made it and there were no delays. Praise Jesus!
These past two weeks I was at training camp in the bustling city of Medellin. This was a time for me to get to know the people I will be traveling with and prepare myself spiritually for the next 11 months.
Our squad of 15 immediately began to mesh really well together. We worked out in the mornings at 7 am, cooked and ate meals together, cleaned together, worshipped together and ultimately said, “Yes” to each other as a verbal commitment to this year and our squad. I couldn’t be happier with the team God put together for Fusion 2018 and I am looking forward to seeing and hearing what He does through them.
At training camp, I was able to grow in my faith and take time to listen to God. The past 3 years have been very hectic, and I rarely took time to be still and listen to God and what He wanted for my life. Recently my relationship with God has been me doing all the talking and planning. I fail to realize that He has so much more for me than what I have planned. It was so refreshing taking time to marvel at God’s creation in a different part of the world and be in such an incredible community of brothers and sisters in Christ.
Also at training camp, I was reminded of my identity being in Christ and not what I do and accomplish. I am a child of God and there is nothing I can do that can change that. I was also reminded that Jesus won’t ask us to do anything He hasn’t done. Jesus says, “I carried that too.”
We are wrapping up our training camp in Medellin and we will be moving to the next place God has for us. Please be praying for clarity of the next location and who is on God’s heart for us to serve. Also for traveling mercies and safety for all the teams. Thank you so much!
In Christ,
Jesse Martinez
