if you were offered the worlds best taco- a fresh gutemalan tortilla stuffed with the most flavorful meat, grilled onions thrown on top and a simple cream jalapeño  sauce drizzled on top witha wedge of lime to top it off for free but at the same time you were offered a stale corn tortilla that breaks when you bend it with a slice of bologna inside of it but for $100 which would you pick?
the first taco is our life wih christ. literally jam packed with the most incredible experiences. vast scale of emotions. access to all the fruits of the spirit. love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. and then the gifts of grace as well – prophecy, service, teaching, encouragement, giving, and leading. we have FREEDOM, truth, grace and boldness. i’ll be the first to say that’s even better than tacos. in the end even when we try to earn it or continually mess up- it is always free. because jesus payed the ultimate price a way long time ago. where sin happened blood was needed. all the way from beginning of time. when adam and eve sinned and had to leave the garden an animal had to be slaughtered in order for them to be clothed. during passover you had to slaughter and animal to use it’s blood to mark that you were a jew so the angel of death would pass over your home. even if they were devout bible readers who gave all the alms but didn’t swipe the blood, the family with a drunken father and kids who stole from the market and a mother who spit out dirty words with the blood over their door would be the ones receiving grace.
jesus’ blood covered us all. sounds gory. but we are so lucky. a doorpost is such a good thing to be.
life with sin. life with just a bologna and a stale tortilla. the hundred dollars gives you this fleshly value. it’s something you want just to see what it is like. even when you already have the best taco ever. it’s sex, or alcohol, or money. it’s your job.  it’s going to church so “god will let you in” – it’s serving but only out of intention of recognition of the world. for your own glory not his. it’s going day by day seeing it as mundane. seeing the spectacular as something that is greyed or washed out. it’s boredom. it’s letting lies devour your life when you have the authority inside of you to stand up to the darkness.

bologna isn’t my vibe. once upon a time it was. but i’ve had a taste of the best free thing i have ever had. standing side by side and literally getting to in conversation with the man who when he spoke PLANETs popped out with the stars and himalayas soon to follow. sweetest treat.
