our sister team woch and my team to the wind got the incredible opportunity to spend a week pf ministry at the lubumbo farm about a bumpy 1.4 hour drive away from our compound. to the wind tented for the week and rose with the sun. this week was a beautiful disruption of our routine.
emmy, gilly and i spent our afternoons with one of the staff members, nomsa, preparing tea time and cooking lunch. nomsa taught me to dance like no one is watching even when you’re full of confusion. she spoke little to no english but still loved each of us so fully. there were no barriers in her joy

the mountains and hills broke forth into song and the trees of the field clapped their hands for His glory (isaiah 55:12b). plants not only sown and tediously tended to by man but cared for even more by our Creator.

disclaimer* next set of pictures is of us and decapatated chickens- pride cometh before the fall folks. just because you chop a stick in half in one swoop does not mean you can chop a neck as smoothly. sticks aren’t alive. pray continually. be humble. i can do ALL things through Him and nothing successfully when i think “i can do it on my own”

i was vegan for 14 hours after this process.
filled- OVERFLOWING. i had missed dogs i could cuddle, conversations with no barriers, quiet, places to climb on top of, harvesting your DINNER-
one of my favorites spots on the farm was the beautiful water tower- it made me realize i loved the view because my higher perspective made it so i could see more. just like in that good ol movie soul surfer, when carrie underwood was explaining that stuff sometimes doesn’t make sense until you can “zoom out” and can see the full picture, she talks about Jeremiah 29:11 and how much hope and faith we must have even in understanding and confusion for HE knows our plans and His perspective will be hundreds of times better than even my water tower.

lubumbo taught me about rest. how even being an extrovert i need quiet to recharge. 50 people is a lot. you put this pressure on yourself to cater to everyone since it isn’t that overwhelming of a number compared to 709 but you are depleted and don’t even realize it until you are reborn as you roll in the CLEAN dirt and bask in the sunshine not constantly surrounded by your peers. know your boundaries- stretch yourself for growth but don’t tear that muscle doing too much too fast.
