Banana bread! Banana bread!
This is what I hear at least 20 times a day. There is a lady who lives here in San Pedro and all she does all day is sell her banana bread. And let me tell you, she is relentless. No matter how much I say no, she continues to pursue me. Wherever I go she seeks me out. On the streets, in the coffee shop, in the hostel, she finds me every time.
As annoying as the banana bread lady can be, she reminds me a lot of the Lord. God is relentless in the pursuit of us. He seeks us out no matter how far we go to get away from Him. And He finds us every time.
From the words of Cory Asbury,
“Oh the overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God
It chases me down
Fights till I’m found
Leaves the 99
I couldn’t earn it
I don’t deserve it
Still you give yourself away
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
Theres no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me”
No matter how far from God you are today, He is still pursuing you. He is fighting for you. He is chasing after you. No matter how much you try to get away He is going to keep pursuing you because of His never ending love for you.
Something I am really good at is saying no to God. I do it much more often than I would like to admit but often the things He is calling us to is scary or it’s hard. Is so much easier to just say no and go your own way. But thankfully God doesn’t give up on us when we go our own way. He, just like the banana bread lady, continues to push into us and pursue us no matter how much we say no.
So even if you are in a place where you are not following the Lords desires for you, it’s ok. God is still pursuing you. God wants to meet you where you are at. He wants to find you where you are and lead you into a life of abundance in Him.
