This week was really hard for me. On Monday on our way to ministry I began to feel very sick. I had very bad stomach pain and my head hurt like crazy. By the end of the day I was completely exhausted and drained. I went to sleep that night a 6:30 and when I woke up the next morning I felt even worse. I stayed home from ministry and when I still didn’t feel better the next day I went to the doctor. I was told I had an infection in my throat and stomach. After getting medicine I felt much better the next day but I was told I couldn’t go to ministry because I needed to rest in order to get 100% better. While I knew this was true, that didn’t make staying home all day any easier.
I have never been a very patient person. I want to do what I want as soon as possible. I became very frustrated because I came here to do ministry and thats all I wanted to do, but God showed me that ministry can be so many different things. By Friday I was feeling great but still had to stay home. At this point I was so tired of doing nothing I decided to do something special for my squad! My friend Hannah, who also had been home sick all week with me, and I remembered we had a big thing of brownie mix leftover in the kitchen so we decided to make brownies for everyone! After they were done we wrapped them all up and put them on everyones beds. When everyone got home from ministry they were all so excited about the brownies. It may have been something small but it made their day!
So even though I may not have been able to go to “ministry”, I was able to create my own ministry in order to serve my squad well! I want to encourage you this week to take time to do something special for someone else! It can be anything from a phone call, going to lunch with someone, giving them a gift, or anything else you can think of! It may only take 5 minutes of your time but it can brighten their day so much!
