This past Saturday I packed up everything I needed for the next nine months, said goodbye to my home and headed to Georgia to start my new journey with The World Race. Launch was not just for me but for my parents as well. My parents got to catch a small glimpse of the community that I will be with for the next nine months. It was super amazing to see how moved my mom and dad were from their experience with me in Georgia.

So on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 my squad and I departed from Atlanta to head to Chang Mai, Thailand. With our first layover being 12 hours in the JFK airport my team and I quickly found ways to fill our time. 48 hours later of traveling and my squad and I are finally in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I’m super excited that this upcoming week my team of 7 will begin working in a orphanage for the first month here. I’m super excited to see all the amazing ways God works and how he will change the kid’s life and my team’s life.

So anyone who knows me, knows that I can not stand reading. BUT at training camp I came across an amazing author. His name is Bob Golf and I was unable to put his book Love Does down. This book gave me a whole new perspective on ways to love others just like God loves us with his whole heart and more. I’m super super pumped to being to love these kids in outstanding ways. I can’t wait to do everything in my power to make them smile and make them know how outstanding Gods love is.

I’m in awe of the community and culture around us. It’s quite different then Raleigh, North Carolina but super amazing how it works. At night there are night markets where everyone comes out and the streets fill with vendors. It seems like it’s a mix of Americas state fair and fresh market (minus the rides). With American music playing frequently through out the markets and the cluster of people it’s a small reminder of the fall at home. Chiang Mai is very touristy is some areas, so most of the locals speak some English and are able to communicate the basics pretty well.

I’m so excited to keep everyone updated this upcoming week on how our ministry time goes working in the orphanage this week. Thank you for all the encouragement and support I have received. I can not express how thankful I am to everyone who has constantly kept me in their prayers and constantly giving me words of encouragement.
