To clarify the title, we began ministry this past week and worked with another mission team for a few days. Our host believed them to be a YWAM team solely on the fact they were stay in the older YWAM base, however they were not YWAM.
We met them shortly after arriving our first day. It was an awkward greeting, but nice. We learned that we were going to be making jump ropes. Yes, jump ropes. The other team showed us the ropes (pun slightly intended).
We spent the next few days just chatting with them. We shared our race experiences with sometimes being sick, our different ministries, things we’ve learned from the Lord. They listened intently and with excitement. They wanted to worship with us and know even more.
Honestly, I wasn’t quite sure how to feel about them. They seemed so excited all the time and I was so exhausted. It just threw me off.
Their last day with us, they came and asked if each group could pray over the other. We obliged. We prayed over the first, wishing for safe travels and thankful for crossing paths.
When they began praying for us, I was kind of surprised by them. They wished for determination to continue pursuing the Lord, finding rest in Him, and many many other things as we continued the race. I was impressed solely by their prayer over us as a group.
It was kind and intentional.
Shortly after their leader and his wife came to me individually, asking if they can pray for me. I was completely caught off-guard by this. So, I said sure. They prayed for the spirit to fill others when I sing His name, confidence, that I would change lives. They told me to let myself embrace my own holiness and that I would present so many creative ways to praise our Father.
I just feel that we need to be reminded to be intentional. It’s easy to get caught in the routine of things and forget about the reason why we do things. I appreciated the team’s enthusiasm in everything they did because they knew what they were there for. We can’t allow ourselves to let things become stale.
Being intentional means going the extra mile to come out of your bedroom and spending time with your family. Or reading your bible a little extra today. Doing something, even if you don’t have to.
They didn’t have to ask us to pray with them. But, they did.
