When I started my senior year I had no idea what I was going to do when it was over, and that was the question I was most frequently asked “what are you going to do after high school?” and honestly I never could tell you the answer. Recently I was diagnosed with dyslexia, I have always struggled with school but I have an AMAZING mother who would help me pass my classes so it was never an option to fail… So as all of my friends, and classmates were receiving their college acceptance letters I was just getting more and more stressed. I had not yet applied for any colleges because I knew my ACT score wouldn’t get me in, so I was waiting, on something, the slightest whisper, or anything from the Lord to tell me what my next step was. A week or two later my mom shared with me that my cousin had said something to her about the World Race, I knew a little bit about it but I didn’t know a ton about it. So I started looking into it reading up about it and what they do. I have always had a heart for people and a heart for missions. I started praying about it asking the Lord if this is what I needed to do, so the next day I started filling out the application, still looking to the Lord for that whisper. As I concluded my application I scheduled my interview… which is what scared me the most, I am a very people person but when put in a situation like that I get super nervous. Over the next few days I continued to pray and ask the Lord if this is what I needed to be doing, praying that when I had my interview that he would speak through me and if this was a door he wanted opened that I would be accepted.
The day came of my interview, I was so excited and nervous and all kinds of emotions, and then it was over just like that, it went great and now I just had to wait again to get the call if I was accepted or not. The next morning was just a day, I was stressed out about the call, and didn’t know what was going to happen, later that day I got a call from a Georgia number, it was a lady from Gap Year sharing that I had been accepted!!!
Three weeks ago I had no idea what I was going to do after high school but now I do know and I could not be more thrilled that I am going to get to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the unreached and broken for 9 WHOLE MONTHS!!!
SO, you are probably asking yourself what is this World Race Gap Year thing??
Well, World Race Gap Year is a 9 month mission trip to 4 different countries spreading the love of Jesus Christ to unreached people. I am so thankful that I am going to be going to Guatemala, Thailand, Malaysia, and Swaziland.
If you would like to donate money, donations are greatly appreciated, but if you can’t thats okay! All I ask is that you pray for me and my team as we take this amazing trip next September, pray that the people of these countries will see Jesus through us, and that we will be protected throughout the whole trip.
WOW if you made it this far thank you for reading!!! If you would like to be a part of this journey this will be where I post my blogs throughout the trip, I also will be posting on social media what’s going on wherever I may be at the time! Again I would like to thank you for your generosity and willingness to donate, it is greatly appreciated!!!
Love,
Gracie
