Flower and Sun

“Are you trying to change me?”

“Why do you ask if I’m trying to change you?”

“Well, I suppose it’s because… I feel different when I’m with you.”

“Do you remember when we first met?”

“Yes. I was young and beneath the ground. I remember hearing your voice for the first time.”

“Do you remember what I said?”

“Yes, although it was difficult to hear you through the dirt. I heard you say “Will you join me up here?”

“Yes, I remember as well. And what happened next?”

“I told you that I wanted to… I had always felt like I belonged above the ground, but I didn’t know how it could be possible.”

“And then?”

“I felt a warmth… first coming from above but then all around me.”

“Yes, that was me. I came closer to where you were when you answered my call to you. And then?”

“Well, that’s when things began to feel different! Something new grew inside of me and got so big it overwhelmed my old shell and broke through it! It was entirely different than anything I had experienced before. I hardly had a chance to notice what was happening before I saw something bright coming from above me.”

“Ah yes! The first time you saw me!”

“Yes! The ground was breaking open! That was also the first time I felt the wind… the wind is still a mystery to me”

“You have asked if I am trying to change you. Was I trying to change you? Or were you changed simply by being with me? You see, I am the sun. I am warmth, I am light, I am who I am and I don’t change. But when I come near to things, they cannot remain as they were. They change… as you did.”

As the flower reflected on the words spoken by the sun, it was suddenly thrown and tossed by the mysterious wind and again felt something it had never felt before.

“WHAT is that?!”

“This? This is rain.”

“Will it change me too?!”

“Oh, little seedling… just wait and see.”
