One sunny Sunday morning in Medellin, our team walked to a nearby park to have church outside.  A parable was spoken, and after that we sang songs of praise.  As we sang, locals came and went. Some traveling by foot, others by bike, most had dogs.  One person in particular, was out for a morning stroll with his dog.  He saw us, felt the Spirit, and started crying.  My friend who is fluent in Spanish went to speak while we were worshipping.  The man on the walk said at one time he felt close to God, but hadn’t for years.  For the last few months, he was struggling searching for answers in life and searching for God.  That day he was planning on taking his dog for a walk since 6 in the morning, but random things kept popping up and preventing him from doing so.  As soon as he got the chance, he took his dog to the park.  Lo and behold, there we were singing praises in the park.  He said immediately he felt that there was something different in us and felt the Spirit moving his heart.  He was brought to tears and told us we answered a prayer of his in feeling God’s love, and that we gave him hope for his walk with Christ.  We talked with the man after, prayed, exchanged hugs, and parted ways.  This was so much different than any “church” service I have ever had in my life.

Why do we hold back the love of God by keeping it in “walls” of the church, sharing only with each other, instead of being outside those barriers in our life, sharing God’s love with everyone.  If you’re a believer, I urge you not to keep the Truth to yourself by closing it in the walls of church once a week, but take It with you everyday of your life.  Share the love that has broken your chains with those who know there must be more to life than what meets the eye.

If you aren’t a believer and you’re reading this, I urge you to “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7.  God is knocking on the door to your heart and wants to have a relationship with you, but only you can open the door and let Him inside.
