God is my refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore I will not fear
though the future is uncertain,
though family, house, and job I left behind;
though my loved ones stumble and seek,
though my heart longs to know and be known.
There are nations that the Lord Almighty
shall again make His own.
God is in their midst, though they do not know.
The peoples cry out, the nations disobey;
Lord, reveal to me my daily portion.
The Lord of hosts is with me;
the God of Jacob is my fortress.
Come, behold His work in my life,
how He brought me from death back to life.
He turns my bitterness into thanksgiving;
He breaks my chains and shatters Satan’s lies.
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”

The Lord of hosts is with me;
the God of Jacob is my fortress.

Psalm 46 is one of my favorite passages in the Bible. Oftentimes, I find myself having a hard time being still before God and allowing Him to take the lead. I rewrote portions of this Psalm as my song of praise to the Lord during one of our team times. I am by no means a song writer, so I encourage you to also try writing your own Psalm one of these days!

It’s hard to believe that we will be leaving Colombo for India this weekend! We have been meeting so many people here, and praying throughout the temples and streets for God’s light to pierce through the spiritual darkness. God has been constantly reminding me to go to prayer as my first resort and not my last resort. We are still praying for the hostel owners at our first hostel to come back to church. We were also able to share about our faith with the two managers at our second hostel and pray for them, and they even joined us for our Easter morning pancake breakfast! Yes, my awesome teammates Nora and Liz found the ingredients and made us delicious banana chocolate pancakes 🙂

My team and I were invited to visit one of the church member’s homes and we prayed for her family, many of whom are not yet believers. Many members of the church are women, so prayer is needed for the men of the families to come to know their Heavenly Father so that they can lead their families. Even though they have been struggling to find secure jobs, the family provided us with a delicious home cooked Sri Lankan meal, and the husband even took us out on his little canoe. We couldn’t speak their language, but we could sense their love and hospitality.

As our parting gift, we had the privilege of providing 25 Sinhalese Bibles to a local church. We take our Bibles for granted sometimes, but Bibles are hard to come by in smaller cities here, so it was a huge blessing for us to enable believers to personally dive into the word of God. We pray that these Bibles may be a lamp to their feet and a light to their paths. Thank you so much for your prayers!
