The World Race Gap Year is officially over.
People have been asking how my trip was, and I just smile and tell them it was amazing. It’s hard to summarize 9 months in a conversation that doesn’t last 2 or more hours. So here is a brief description of what the Race was to me.

I made lifelong friendships, grew more intimate with God, reaffirmed my calling in life, found freedom in worship, saw God show up in real and powerful ways, and I had a lot of fun.

Struggling with the language barriers, staying up late at night talking about anything and everything, playing with kids, getting tackled by kids, seeing God heal people, playing with elephants, getting a Siswati name, celebrating birthdays, dancing at youth group, preaching, and a million other precious memories.

The Race broke me down and God built me back up more times than I care to count. I saw people live in poverty most Americans can’t imagine. I saw kids who just wanted to be loved. I saw Christians rise up to help their community and serve God. I got the chance to do what I love, sharing God’s love overseas.

It’s not something I ever want to stop doing, and I don’t plan to. I know God has called me to overseas missions, and I am looking for further opportunities to go out on the field again. Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout these last 9 months. I couldn’t have done this without you.
