My everyday life in COSTA RICA!!

Guys I have made it to Costa Rica. We flew in Wednesday last week! For the next 3 months the entire squad is living together in one house. There is about 50 of us all together. I am living in a room with 9 others girls. Sleeping on bunk beds. We have showers one is hot and the other 4 are cold but we have one hot!! We have a Mountain View from our backyard that is so beautiful! We also have an amazing cook which cooks us great food dinner Monday-Friday. I am blown away by where we are staying. We are also walking distance to a town where we can explore. It even has Walmart and Starbucks ha. Of course it is very different sharing a space with 50 other people. And obviously living in a different country is very different.

My team started ministry on Friday!

We go to a daycare for about two-three hours in the morning. There is kids ranging from one years old to eight years old. This week we played games, taught a little, and just hung out with the kiddos. After we go to our second ministry which is a school in the more inner city area from 12-5. The kids there range from 1 years old to 12 years old. This week we have done quite a bit of diverse work including working in some of the classrooms, putting kids down for their naps, painting new hopscotches, gardening, cleaning out rooms, and then just playing with the kids when ever we can!

I am not going to lie Friday when we went to ministry I felt very out of place, couldn’t understand the language, and was just drained by the overall experience. I was really concerned how ministry really would work and if I would like it at all. But Monday on our bus ride to ministry my entire team and I prayed over this week of ministry that we would find ways around the language barriers, we would have fun during ministry instead of feeling drained, and we would have an idea of what we should do. Well God is awesome and answered all three of those prayers during our first ministry and continued to through out the week! We have had someone each day who spoke English, we have had so much fun everyday together what ever it was, and we have had projects or lessons for a plan!

One lesson I have learned while being here this week is how to love without words. The language barrier has been harder on me than I thought. However Jesus is awesome and is teaching me how to show his love when I can’t rely on my words. Even with my team, my family, and everyone else around me how can I love without words?! I will keep you updated on how that goes.

This was just a quick update! Thank you guys so much and I am so thankful to be here. Seriously I am just so blown away I am actually doing this. I will explain more deeply my next blog so stay tuned 🙂 I will include more photos in the next blog because the WiFi wont post it on here… ha!
