Let There Be Light

John 15: 12-13
We live in a world of selfish people.
People wander left and right,
Hustling and bustling,
All uptight.
We live in a world where names must be known,
Where success must be shown,
Where people must own a right to their
worldly throne.
People judge left and right,
Putting on standards of what is right.
This world we live in- what a sad sight.
You people, you are not happy!
Trying to beat the clock and overcome the time with a selfish rhyme.
Everyone is seeking something more,
Yet the strive and the drive has no height.
People are hurting and it’s buried by fame.
Nothing prevails and it leaves everyone
ashamed,
Longing for a token,
Left confused and broken.
We live in a world where the prize is fortune and where processions are an obsession and the way we look and feel is a transgression put on a pedestal above all other obligation above the reality that we will never do anything, nothing at all worth diddly-squat unless we recognize one thing, one simple thing that is in the grasp of someone, anyone, you and I, wanting the truth to be seen, the dirt to be clean, the selfishness to cease.
We live in a world of selfish people.
Choose to be selfless.
Yes, selfless is the word.
Self-less.
That means without self.
That means with no glory to your name. With no fortune or fame.
With no intention to scour for power.
With no reason to judge or hold a grudge.
You are more than all the metals you’ve won.
You are more than all the things you’ve done.
Hello! Let there be light!
Don’t you realize it’s not worth the fight!
Trust me- He is right.
Stop trying to be in the spotlight.
There is a God.
There is a Holy one above and He wants you to see Him!
He wants you to drop your selfish ways and choose Him.
To put you in your place, of course with grace.
With this comes a truth,
One that must reign true in every pursuit,
To put this selflessness in use.
He wants you to realize that you are more than what the world will ever say: you are His daughter or son.
With this knowledge, you have won.
Know that you are loved.
Start living for Him.
Stop caring what others think of you.
Stop trying to be the person seen in the crowd because you want others to be proud!
He is proud.
It doesn’t matter what others see!
You are always seen by He.
Stop dwelling in this selfishness that takes you away.
It’s in His arms you must stay.
Let Him be the one you crave.
Cling to your worth in your papas eyes.
Ask for you to be able to see his children the way He did when he died.
That’s the key to the way,
The way to give Him praise,
To love His people endlessly,
Throughout all of your days.
His name is the one to be glorified.
Let Him be lifted high!
Start living for him.
Start putting others before yourself and I promise you this:
You will see life in a whole new light.
Put yourself aside,
And choose a selfless life,
Where you let love shine.
Let there be light.
