Introducing some of the fantastic people I have become so grateful for. They have shown me a tremendous amount of love during the time I’ve lived here and have shown me so much of Jesus’s love! I’ve most definitely been winning with this team!

First up in the 1 hole we have…

Emily

My girl Emily has truly been amazing. Along with her partner Allison, (she has sadly left us but we will soon meet again in Thailand) Emily has been our base mentor. The Costa Rica base is brand new as of this year (we are the first squad, the legacy, whoop whoop!!) and Emily has worked her butt off to prepare the base for our arrival, budget our food money, take care of us crazy people and also serve with us. I have been truly blessed to be in her presence and get to know such a kind soul.

Second up is…..

Xenia

Oh boy, where do I begin with this Wonder Woman. Our beautiful Xenia has given so much to our squad and shown us an overwhelming amount of love by spending hours in the kitchen every day cooking us the most delicious meals. I truly don’t know what we would’ve done without this woman. She has been a light in my life, showing me how to put others before myself and live with a servants heart.

In the terrific 3 hole we have…..

Carlos

Not only is this amazing man our neighbor, but he has quickly become a close friend. He has surprised me with an overwhelming amount of generosity and kindness as he has bought pizza for our squad, taken us on ice cream runs and invited us over for a nice thanksgiving meal tonight. I have very much enjoyed his presence and kindness and most of all his hunger to learn more about Jesus. His actions represent only a mere glimpse of how much love he carries. Carlos, you will be greatly missed…

Next up, batting 4th we have….

Helen

Where do I begin with Helen…. she is truly amazing. She has blown me away with her lifestyle centered around the Lord. She  is the principal of Tronos De Dios and also runs the youth group at the church there. She has been the most welcoming ministry host and has loved us so well even with the language barrier. She is always hugging us, giving us presents and food and she carries herself with a wisdom that has inspired me. She is most definitely making an impact in hundreds of students lives. I am thankful to be one of them she has impacted.

Coming up next we have our 5 hole….

JC

Our JC is the man. Our team has become so fond of this young man. He was our translator and close friend at our first ministry and has stayed in touch and hung out with us since. He has blessed my life with his willingness to do whatever God calls him into, one of those things being a translator for 7 weirdo American girls! God most definitely gave him tons of patience when he called him into this role hehe. But on a real note, even though we have joked around and gave him a hard time and laughed a whole lot with him, (and at him) our team will sure miss our dear friend JC.

We next see our 6 hole stepping up to the plate….

Alfredo

This man has become my favorite person of all time. He has blessed me every day with a huge smile and greeting. I sit by him everyday on the bus as we ride to ministry. We laugh and cry and sing and shout. He calls me Teacher and I call him Estudiante because I teach him English. Wow I’m gonna cry saying goodbye to this one… thank you Alfredo for your constant and pure JOY!!! You will forever have a place in my heart and I will forever look up to you.

Up 7th is….

Daniela

This sweet girl is one of the 4 interns from Germany at Metro Ministries. I love all 4 of these people but I thought I’d brag on Daniella a bit. She has been the kindest soul and has truly become my friend. I’ve seen us both open up as the weeks have gone on and I’ve enjoyed spending time with her as we love on kiddos together. We’ve had a blast planning games and singing together on stage. Ugh I’ll miss ya. But hey, this girl (me) now has an extra special reason to come visit Germany. Whoop whoop! See you there xoxo

8th to step up to the plate we have…..

Angel

As our Ministry hosts, Angel and his twin brother (and his wife) do a lot of work. They are constantly planning lessons, spending time in the children’s communities, setting up new programs such as teaching English, or even preparing meals for their team. They have welcomed in our team with open arms and allowed us all to become a family. I have loved serving alongside Angel. We are constantly laughing and enjoying loving on these kids! Thank you Metro hosts, you’ve been amazing.

Last up to bat we have our 9 hole…..

Jack

What a cool dude! We met this guy at our hostel in Jaco during our debrief. We were given the opportunity to share the gospel with Jack and we got to love on him for a week. We got to learn a lot about his life and his story… all that made him who he is today. He is now an inspirational speaker that travels the world to speak, and he’s our age!!! Say what? The best part is that our new friend Jack will be speaking in Thailand when we are there so we can’t wait to meet up with him again. Wow God is cool for allowing us to see him again. Thanks for your kindness Jack and see you in a few months!

(I sadly can’t find the Pic of Jack and I and he currently hasnt messaged me back about it so here’s a pic of him I stole off his insta from when he was in Norway)

I have been blessed with such incredible people in my life and they have all together made this experience something I will never forget. I have learned so much from these 9 people, not to mention a hundred+ more when your ministry is around tons of amazing kiddos. Thankful for you during this Thanksgiving time, you amazing people of Costa Rica! You will forever hold a place in my heart.
