I’ve faced this word head-on a lot recently…and not only from myself at times, but from others when I’ve shared the news of taking on the World Race, quitting my job, finding a temporary home for Charlotte and traveling to 11 different countries for 11 months with nothing except my tent and what I can fit into my 60L pack……….(insert over-packer, can’t be unprepared, but nervous to have to carry it all emoji!)
Quick Story:
Ten years ago, My cousin Danny led a medical mission trip to Nairobi, Africa, and Aunt Bev, who is “top of the line” in the medical industry, encouraged me to come along (Danny, you’re top of the line too!!). Although I was so excited to experience serving in Africa with a couple family members and team, inside I thought, “what am I going to be able to do and/or help with? I’m not a doctor, nurse or dentist like the majority of the team!” & “I’ll probably just get in the way”! But I went anyway…
I’m not saying I was the easiest team member as my inexperience showed when I arrived at the airport with 2 large pieces of luggage (49.9LBS each) for only 11 days! Our bus driver and team members would have to load and unload my bags onto the top of our bus EVERYDAY as we traveled from one remote village to the next. #amateurhour
Even though my 2 pieces luggage did in fact get in the way, I did not!! Jesus used me!! I didn’t have to be a doctor, dentist or nurse….I just had to have the willingness to go and a servants heart….and He did the rest!!! Best mission trip….thus far! 🙂
The End
(but wait, keep going – just a little more – promise! :))

My Point:
I still feel unqualified…I struggle with the question, do I really have what it takes to complete the World Race…..and then I think, join the Club, the majority of us feel unqualified in some arena….
Even Moses….He didn’t think he was qualified either – so much so, he literally argued his case face-to-face with God!
Moses didn’t think he was “enough” to go, he didn’t think people would believe him, he didn’t think he was gifted, and then he pleaded for God to not make him do this….
And each objection made by Moses was overruled by God! God said, I will be with you, my point if to impress them with Me, not you, Moses – I’ll show up, who made your mouth and who is in control of it – I’ll teach you what to say and I will send your brother with you and I will be with both of you – Now GO!
You can watch this story unfold if you Exodus 3:9-4:15….

Conclusion:
In discerning God’s plan for me and the WR…I’ve learned:
The World Race might be my calling, but it’s not about me at all!! It’s about Him!
No matter what your calling, work for the Kingdom is supernatural work. If real faith and a desperate dependence on God isn’t required in order to succeed, then either it’s not God’s calling or you/me/we just don’t get it yet! (in the most loving and caring way)!
