This is the final “Unfinished” post. My next few post will be about my time in Panama
BGC Powerhouse
Picture this 5 women walking up 3 stairs with pots and pans making this announcement:
“I ain’t get no sleep cause of all. Y’all ain’t gettin no sleep cause of me!”
This is not a joke this is how my new team made its intro to the squad.
This team is made up of Bold, Beautiful, Bougie, Beaming, Blissful, Brilliant and any other life-giving word that starts with a B women.
We are 5 women who all display different characteristics of God and different personalities.
To give a lit bit of backstory in the post “Unfinished Part 1” I explained how AIM breaks down the squad into teams. My squad due to the size has 4 teams. My first team was Lowin Warriors.
Typically we change teams after 4 months of being on the field however this changed earlier than expected for Q squad.
On February 28th we had a meeting and our leadership team explained to us that they felt the Lord leading them to do something new.
“18 Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to things of old. 19 Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert. (Isaiah 43:18-19)
The new thing was team changes. As I looked around the room I saw a mix of emotions. Some people were ecstatic, some sad, some shocked, and some working to understand this new truth.
I was shocked and also a lot of things started to make since.
Prior to this announcement I had some conversations with one of my teammates about team changes. I also had a feeling while we were in Nicaragua about a change on February 17th I wrote this about the squad.
Q-Squad – Freedom. I feel like our squad is unique in many ways. Size, boldness, unity, freedom, power, and understanding. WE are peculiar. We are an army rising up. We change atmospheres. We are being built up in Central America. He’s building us up to know who we are so that it is not just lip service.
After team changes was announced this made more since simply because we were getting complacent and in order to continue to grow complacency can not be in the mix. When we are complacent we don’t press into the uniqueness that we are because the challenge is not there. So it was time for team changes.
So from the time it was announced until the day we received our new teams that was the center of most conversations. My dialogue consisted of saying how I wanted to be challenged more in my team. I was also convinced that I would be on the co-ed team because I knew that would for sure be a challenge for me in different ways.
Well the day came we were at mini-derief and we were told that at 1pm we would receive our new team. Prior to this we had meetings with our squad leaders to discuss role changes in my meeting I was asked to be a Team Leader and I told Carly that even though I was scared I wanted to give my best yes… so I said yes.
1PM arrives and we are all in the sitting area and we receive our envelopes and are instructed to pray before we open our envelopes and that we have to be back at 2pm to show the squad our teams.
Here are the things I wrote about my team before seeing the names:
Growth, Unity, Boldness, Honor, transformation, depth
Warriors who rally and uphold the cause
Team that will fight for each other with love and truth
I see a team linked arm and arm protecting those around us. We are unstoppable because we stand in unity (Gen 11:6)
My team consists of:
Emalea, Hannah, Alyssa, Missy
We are BGC (Bad Girls Club)Powerhouse because we are all powerhouses and all leaders and we are powerhouses.
