Have you ever had those times when things are just different and you just can’t seem to pin down why? Times when you just feel off… like things are on the verge of change, but you don’t know what it is yet.
If I’m being completely honest with you I have been experiencing that feeling for the past few weeks and I have been nervous about it. I know God has been knocking on the door of my heart constantly over the past few weeks, but I have been reluctant to let him in.
I feel like so many of us are more reluctant to let God in than we are willing to admit because deep down we are scared… Scared of what God is trying to reveal to us and maybe even scared and unwilling to accept the change he is trying to make in our lives.
Over the past couple of weeks God has been moving in my life as well as the lives of a few dear friends of mine in ways we can’t even begin to describe. We know he is moving and preparing us for something so big we can’t even begin to wrap our minds around it, but we have no idea what to do.
The past couple of days I have made the conscious effort to lay down my fears at his feet and go down this road he has been asking me to follow him down (even when I didn’t know what the road looked like)… Honestly I can’t even begin to start describing what has been happening in just a few short days.
Many of you know that I am very timid when it comes to speaking in public especially when it comes to opening up about things that I may be self conscious about and one of those things is singing. For some reason the other day a friend and I decided to start doing some simple praise and worship after our workout and just really felt God’s presence in a way I haven’t felt in a while.
For some crazy reason I suggested that it would be a good idea if we Facebook like our praise and worship and invite other people to join us… in a few short minutes we were singing and praying live of Facebook asking people to join us and welcome the God we know in our hearts into theirs. There have been a few messages of people reaching out to us that saw the video thanking us for sharing that intimate time of worshipping God with them.
In those moments thinking and talking with a friend of mine about what all has happened since that video is has been made abundantly clear the few things God has been trying to show me…
1.) Love him… God wants nothing more than for us to desire and long to know him in more intimate ways than we have ever known him before. In order for us to love him and know him in those ways we need to do this next thing
2.) Trust in him… God will NOT ask you to follow him and then leave you (even when it can be something completely new and very uncomfortable… like facebook living your time of praise and worship even when you don’t know how to sing).
3.) Be bold… Very few times in life have I looked back and wished I hadn’t done something I took a chance to do, but the same thing can’t be said about the opportunities I passed by.
Friends God is asking you and I today to: love him, trust him, and be bold in him. When God is calling you down a road you have never been before no matter how big, small, or scary it may be we need to believe that there is a purpose for it even though we may not see it.
My question to you (mainly because I ask myself this question so frequently) is why are we so scared to accept when God is trying to change our lives? Why are we scared of differences… Why are we scared of God and why are we so scared to travel down roads we haven’t traveled before?
We all know he is a caring, merciful, and above all a LOVING father that has done things for us we could never come close to repaying and yet we always shy away when he is calling out to take his hand and follow him.
Today I am asking you to join me… lets all rise up and be an army who isn’t scared to take the new roads God is asking us to go down. Let’s choose to: Trust him, Love him, and be bold because if we all do those things together God will give us the ability to change the world… I mean look at David, if God can use someone who everyone looked down on as weak and small and build him up to lead nations he can do the same for you and I.
Are you ready to be a generation known for following Christ and leading nations of people back to him? All I can say to that is… I AM and I pray that you join me!
Truly His,
Cody
