Hello hello hello, it has been FOREVER since my last update blog. We were given specific instructions not to post very much information publicly in India and Nepal because it could put our hosts in danger due to the high persecution of Christians. I have so many stories from those months that I would love to share with you but that will be at a later time 🙂
We are in EUROPE!!! This is our last continent of the World Race and we just started month 8. My mind is blown with how quickly these 11 months are passing by.
Anyway… here are some updates about this month in Pitesti, Romania.
Ministry :
This month, we are partnering with Living Hope Church. We have been sleeping in a sanctuary room on the floor with our sleeping pads and I have absolutely loved that so far. Our main focuses of ministry are homeless outreaches, visiting street kids and families in the nearby ghetto, and helping the church in any way we can. The pastor of this church, Cristi, had the vision of helping lost and broken people groups since he was a young kid. He started an organization when he was in his early twenties and has been loving on the people of Pitesti his entire life. His life reflects Jesus sitting at the table with sinners in the most beautiful way.
And we play ping pong. Lots and lots of ping pong.
Community :
There are two teams at this ministry site, Sequoia and Perrasia. I am with team Perrasia this month! These teams work so well together and it has been so much fun joining them while we serve as one body of Christ this month.
This month is very different than all of the others because I GET TO SEE MY PARENTS!!! The last week of ministry, a group of us who have parents visiting will leave Pitesti and head to Dragonesti for a week. We will get to do ministry with our parents, worship with them, and even have an adventure day with them. Whenever I think about being able to see my parents in 11 days, I start to tear up. I am SO excited.
Prayer Requests :
Please pray against the feeling of isolation. Sometimes hopping from team to team gets isolating and that is one of the hardest things to battle while already thousands of miles away from home. Pray for me to find my identity and beauty in Christ. Being in a more developed country with brand-name clothing stores and people trying to look their best has been a temptation to fall into comparison. My sense of style has drastically changed since living in the Caribbean for two months, Africa for three, and Asia for two more months. It has been hard readjusting to looking ‘normal’ again. I have been experiencing the most drastic culture shock in the most unexpected country.
That’s all for now, new blogs to come in the near future!!
