WOW! It seems like forever since my last blog. So much has happened in the last few weeks and I am super excited to share my experiences with you all!
First off, I accepted a new position as a raised up Squad Leader for J Squad! I will be stepping into this new leadership position with my new teammates John and Abby on team JAC JAC. As Squad Leaders, we will be spending two weeks with a team at a time to empower them to choose intimacy with Jesus, dive into healthy Christian community, and to build Kingdom wherever we go. There are a lot of logistical responsibilities that come with the role as a Squad Leader but our main focus is to serve our squad and to love them like Christ does.
Second, I am in Zambia! Our month in Zambia has been the weirdest month on the World Race yet. It started off with debrief, our Squad Mentor Grace and our Squad Coaches flew in from the States and spent a few days with us. We had a time of rest, fellowship, and ADVENTURE!

After debrief, the teams left for their ministry sites and team JAC JAC had four days of training. John, Abby, and I shared great times of self reflection, goals for the squad, and even one of the weirdest experiences I have ever had in a museum.
It was a weird museum.
Anyway, after training I got to partner up with our Squad Mentor Grace and shadow her for a few days before I stepped into being a legit Squad Leader. I got to spend a little over a week with team Selah at the ministry Africa 4 Jesus. We evangelized in the community, threw a Christmas party for the families we bonded with, and did a weekly children’s ministry day at a local church.
My favorite ministry this month wasn’t even during a scheduled time. Our house was on a plot of land that had another house about 10 feet away in our backyard. I loved spending time with our neighbors every day whether it was for 10 minutes or for two hours. They taught me how to speak basic phrases in Nyanja, how to cook nshima, and how to live in the present.
As our time in Africa comes to a close, I feel like I’m saying goodbye to my home. I love Africa so much and I am really sad to leave. In these last three months, I have fallen in love with the culture, the languages, and what the Lord has been doing in this continent.
There’s no doubt that I will return to Africa some day. I feel like there is so much more that the Lord has for me here. Please join me in prayer as He begins to reveal what my future may hold!
Here’s to a new beginning…
