Wow.

God is something else.

We have officially hiked a portion of the Camino. We went from Pamplona, Spain to Burgos, Spain in 9 days. The hike totaled around 137 miles. (We bused at least 40 miles, don’t tell anyone though). It has been a good, challenging first week for sure. There is just so much here that its hard to process it all. Everything is so different here. From the buildings, to the roads, to the stores, to the people. Everything is different, but so beautiful.

While hiking the Camino we were all able to engage in conversations with other people, from all over the world, who were also hiking the Camino. We had great conversations. They would tell all about where they are from and what they like to do when they are home. They also would share why they are on the Camino. I quickly realized that the deep rooted reason, from each person, for hiking the Camino were similar..

Everyone was searching..

Searching for more. Searching for ways to cope. Searching for an escape. Searching for themselves.

I also realized that I, too, was searching.

Each day of the Camino we were to spend an hour of walking in silence. This was basically time to focus and talk to God about whatever was on our hearts. I kept finding myself asking “What do You have for me here?” I felt as if God wasn’t answering me and I began to grow frustrated. Then, one day, while walking up the steepest hill of this mountain God answered.

I was in my hour of silence and had my head down while I was walking. I had it down the entire time. In my head I was pestering Him again “God, I know You hear me. What do you have for me here?” After minutes and minutes of nothing, He finally revealed it to me. I don’t know why, but I finally picked my head up and what I saw was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. I was so far up this mountain that I could see every little town or village that we had hiked though. I broke my silence and said “Woah”.

In that moment God spoke to me and said:

“My son, why do you need to know what I have for you? Just know that I have something for you. You’re so focused on finding an answer and you’re reaching so far for it that you’re missing it. I have it right here in front of you. Pick your head up and open your eyes. Don’t miss it.”

There’s so much more out there in the world and it’s so easy to miss out on what God has for you when you’re searching in all the wrong places. It’s only been a week, yet it feels like it’s been months already. I’m excited to see what’s in store for me and my team during these 11 months. God has so much more for me and YOU. Don’t do what I did. Be smarter. Pick your head up, open your eyes, and see what God has in store for you.

God has something for you and I don’t know what it is.

But He does, so don’t miss it.
