It’s been a while since I’ve posted a blog but so much has happened!
I wrapped up the end of sophomore year with a crazy finals week, but I did it! Then I hit the road for Colorado and went to YoungLife work week. We set up and prepared one of YoungLife’s camps for all of the high school students that will be there this summer.
While that week was full of work and was physically taxing, I was also able to find great rest and spend some much needed time with the Lord. I woke up early each morning and sat down with my bible, pen, notebook and of course some hot tea (cause it was freezing outside!!!!). For about an hour each morning, I just sat. Which is something that I’m not very good at.
I’ve never been very good at stopping and sitting. I keep my schedule packed and always have something to do or somewhere to be. I’ve always thought, that’s just who I am. However, the Lord has been teaching me how to slow down.
This past semester was a whirlwind and took a lot out of me. I started the semester, a week out from wisdom teeth surgery and got terribly sick. The doctor thought I had the flu, but I later found out that I had mono, which caused me to miss the first week and a half of classes. I started out so behind. After that, it was injury, after injury, after injury. I was really learning how to sit out and watch from the sidelines. But I think this time was so necessary. It allowed me to reflect on all of the change that was and is about to occur.
This time gave me a new perspective and allowed me to really focus in on the fundraising task that the Lord has set before me. I sold t-shirts, GoRings, did Adopt-A-Box, and wrote letters to many friends and family. I am still in the process of fundraising, and am excited to see the Lord’s provision in the months to come.
I am currently selling t-shirts and stickers (shameless plug if you want to find me on Facebook or Instagram (: )
It’s crazy to think that it has been almost a year since I decided to go on the World Race, and about a year from now, I will be returning back to ‘the real world’ (a.k.a the United States). But the Lord is preparing me for that time, just as He is preparing me for the journey ahead.
I cannot wait to see all that He has in store and am so excited to share with you what he is teaching me in the months to come!
