My labels define me. The past has made me who I am today. Yes but no… Before I left for this race I used to believe that my past is what made Camille Janay Tyree. But never the good. I only though that the hard things shaped me.
We just got back from our month one debrief and some stuff came up from my past that I thought I was redeemed from. It was a label that is so uncomfortable and at times I didn’t want it to be real. But the only one putting that label on me was me. If I went home today and you asked the biggest thing that I learned on this trip what would I say? My answer would be that he was and still is right beside me. I strongly believe that I have the power to change how I view myself through changing my thoughts. My labels DO define me… but not the ones from my past. The ones that the Lord has given me are what really matter. You are a warrior, you are a daughter of kingdom, you are clean, and you are held by the creator. But the most important thing is that you are a bride of Jesus Christ, and you are beautiful and highly valued in his eyes.
My mom would constantly tell us “ speak words of life”. I never got that when I was six, oooo but now I have seen how big of an impact that my words can have on another life.  But when you realize that the power of life and death lies on your tongue your words start flowing out like honey.

Peace and Love,
Camille Janay Tyree
