I am humbled today by the Lord’s sweet touch on His children’s lives and so excited to share this testimony.
My team and I have been voyaging into the small village of Los Corrales for the past two months. As I’ve spoken of before in my Open Doors blog, most of our time has been spent doing house visits. This consists of investing in people and telling them about Jesus, encouraging them in their faith, praying for them, or just hanging out with them and building relationships.
One of the women that we’ve visited many times is named Synovia. She has a son that is eight years old and his name is Dani. Dani has a tumor on his head that has not yet been healed. The first time we went to her house I remember her being so discouraged. I could see that the Lord had anointed her family with joy, but the weight of her son’s ailment plus her family’s lack of a relationship with Jesus was heavy.
As each week has gone by and we’ve passed over her purple flowered threshold the Lord has been planting seeds in Synovia. On a ministry day not too long ago our team went to her house and her and her family accepted Christ. Now the joy that was anointed over them spills out, whereas before it was contained. She tells us every time we see her how Dani loves to pray and she’s been praying over her entire family. That she trusts that the Lord will heal Dani, and she knows He is good.
Last week we showed up to Synovia’s house and she was sitting alongside two other women. One of them we had visited previously at her own home and the other we hadn’t met yet. The woman we had visited previously was telling us just a day before how she lacked community and she often cried at home because she was alone. When we found the three women together the next day, we asked what Synovia was doing and she said she was praying with them. A month ago Synovia didn’t have a relationship with the Lord and now she’s cultivating community and fellowship among other believers in her home. The Lord’s hand has been so prevalent in Los Corrales.
Thank you Jesus that it’s not on our team to bring change to your children. But you use us as your vessels to extend love to them and your words flow from us. Thank you Lord that you have a vision for Los Corrales to plant disciples within the small village and my team of missionaries has only the tiniest slimmest part of the work you’re orchestrating there. I know that what the Lord has planned for Los Corrales and Guatemala in general is far beyond anything I could dream up, but seeing a glimpse of the fellowship between three women dipping their toes into relationships with Him seems like a glimpse of heaven.
Also, update! I still need to raise $1067 before the final deadline in January. If you feel called to give I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you to everyone whom has supported me already. Please continue to lift my team and I up in your prayers as well as we finish out this last month in Guatemala and make our way to Thailand in December.
