Here’s what happened in Jordan.

Week 1: Amman, Jordan

We had a debrief with the whole squad.

We said goodbye to Casey.

We had team changes. Goodbye Team Shalom.

Hello Team Powerhouse. [Group picture coming soon… Hopefully]

Week 2: Irbid, Jordan

We spent intentional time praying and going through scripture as a team.

We made a friend named Ibrahim.

We found out we were going to Greece for five weeks to work at a refugee camp, so we did a lot of logistical planning (travel, lodging, fundraising).

We got to have lunch with a Muslim woman who shared with us about working with refugees.

God placed Aqaba on our hearts, and He paved a way for us to go.

Week 3: Aqaba, Jordan

Aqaba is a city in southern Jordan on the Red Sea. From it, you can see Israel and Egypt.

We celebrated Christmas by trying to incorporate traditions that we all have!

God was good to us. We finally got an oven and it was just in time for Christmas.

We found out Emily is going to Greece with us.

We got fully funded for Greece.

I AM NOW FULLY FUNDED!!

We went to Petra.

And then I got excited when I was reading in Obadiah and saw that Petra was possibly prophecied about in the Bible. It was in the land of Edom. (Obadiah, Jeremiah 49:7-22, Ezekiel 25:12-14)

Your arrogant heart has deceived you, you who live in clefts of the rock in your home on the heights, who say to yourself, “Who can bring me down to the ground?”
Obadiah 1:3

Those who have been rescued will go up to Mount Zion in Jerusalem to rule over the mountains of Edom. And the Lord himself will be king!”
Obadiah 1:21

We visited nuns at a school. There are 930 students. 900 Muslim. 30 Christian. Seventy something teachers, ten are Christian and the rest are Muslim. I found it interesting that there is a mixed school.

We went to dinner with the guy renting us his apartment, shared our testimonies with him, and had dessert on a rooftop. He told us his story and about the culture and Islam.

And we brought in the New Year by watching fireworks in Israel from Jordan with our new friend!!

While reflecting on our time in Jordan, the most memorable thing that keeps coming to mind is this: We are in a place that is referenced in the Bible and so close to where it all started, but a place that is now mostly Muslim. And we got to share a meal with two Muslims in two different towns and after we prayed, they both said, “Wow, that’s the first Christian prayer I’ve ever been in.” That’s pretty cool.

We are now preparing for our next border crossing.
